Oil Search excited with prospects

Oil Search has expressed excitement on several prospects following the discovery of the Muruk well late last year.

Managing Director Peter Botten said during the company’s annual general meeting in Port Moresby recently that the Muruk Well and its follow up is part of their 2017 program and beyond.

He said the company will soon go into testing the Muruk as well as into other prospects north-west of the Angore and Hides gas fields.

“A really exciting discovery is Muruk. It’s only days since we had the first gas intersection back in December last year, and we subsequently drilled three sidetracks, which are holes in the same location, to understand where and how big the resource might be,” he said.

“We are just about to go into a testing program and that will give us information about how good the reservoirs are.

“But between Hides and Angore, you see Juha, you see P’nyang, there are a series of prospects at that North western corner, that are really quite exciting with multiple tcf (trillion cubic feet) and that does offer some opportunities in future to optimise how many trains we have beyond two.”
