New restaurant opens at Koki

A new restaurant has opened in the Moresby South electorate of Port Moresby with the aim to change the reputation of the local Koki area.

Red Chillies Restaurant is part of the Pypon Holdings Limited, sister business to Pypon outlets through Port Moresby.

Opened on April 25, this is the only restaurant in the Koki area.

Managing director Robin Rohman said there were too many negative stories when referring to Koki, and the establishment of this restaurant should be a show of positive change.

“I hope this attracts a mixture of people from outside into Koki and neutralise the ethnicity known to this area,” said Rohman.

The restaurant is located in the same area with the Pypon store, next to Big Rooster.

It has employed 16 national staff and two overseas chefs.

Red Chille will be open from 10:30am to 2:30pm and then 5pm to 10:30pm weekly.

A bar will be included later on, but for the now, Rohman says the restaurant offers a variety of food based on the customers’ choice.

“I reckon customers will like our food. We will give them quality,” he said.

Bangladeshi company Pypon Holdings Limited has been in the country for at least 20 years. Its owner and MD, Rohman, has been in the country for about 30 years, becoming a PNG citizen in 2016.
