New ATM to reduce travels

The opening of a new Automated Telling Machine (ATM) in Kerevat, Gazelle District of East New Britain Province, will reduce long distance travel to Kokopo to have access to the service.

The Bank South Pacific (BSP) officially launched the new ATM at its Kerevat sub-branch recently adding to its existing growing services in the Province.

The event was attended by Police Minister and Member for Gazelle, Jelta Wong, as well as the District Development Authority (DDA) CEO, Rosemary Murure, and Board Members.

Minister Wong expressed his gratitude towards BSP for providing this vital service to his people and the District.

“My people no longer have to travel a long distance to Kokopo for simple banking requirements, as the branch and the installation of the ATM now saves the people of Gazelle district time and money,” He said.

Minister Wong also appealed to the public to look after the ATM and the Bank, as these are important services that are for everyone’s benefit.

BSP Kokopo Branch Manager, Joe Makinta,  said Gazelle is the biggest District in ENBP after Pomio and  the bank caters for all basic banking needs such as Account opening, Loan applications, SME, Mobile Banking registrations, withdrawals & deposits, cash cheques, EFTPoS and TT services.

“The branch plays a major role in supporting major agricultural and small business activities in this District like, Oil Palm, logging, cocoa, copra and tourism. The new ATM will complement the services.

“Gazelle also has a Sub-Branch with full Banking functions. This service will help improve performance of public services and businesses in the district and we ask the people of Gazelle district to take ownership in looking after this service.” Makinta further added.
