New ATM for Gazelle district

The people of Gazelle district, East New Britain Province (ENBP), no longer have to travel long distances to do their banking.

Bank South Pacific (BSP) officially launched a new ATM at BSP’s Kerevat sub-branch on Wednesday, 13th September, 2017.

The ATM was officially launched by Member for Gazelle & Minister for Police, Jelta Wong.

The Minister expressed his gratitude towards BSP for providing this vital service to his people and the district.

“My people no longer have to travel a long distance to Kokopo for simple banking requirements, as the branch and the installation of the ATM now saves the people of Gazelle district time and money.”

He also appealed to the public to look after the ATM and the bank, as these are important services that are for everyone’s benefit.

BSP Kokopo branch manager, Joe Makinta, said: “Gazelle is the biggest district in ENBP after Pomio and BSP caters for all the district’s basic banking needs such as account opening, loan applications, SME, mobile banking registrations, withdrawals & deposits, cash cheques, EFTPoS and TT services.”

“The branch plays a major role in supporting major agricultural and small business activities in this district like oil palm, logging, cocoa, copra and tourism. The new ATM will complement the services.”

Gazelle also has a sub-branch with full banking functions.

“This service will help improve the performance of public services and businesses in the district and we ask the people of Gazelle district to take ownership in looking after this service,” Makinta further added.

East New Britain has two main branches in Kokopo and Rabaul, two sub-branches, one located in Palmalmal, Pomio district, and another at Kerevat. The Province has more than 15 ATMs, more than 25 cash agents and over 470 EFTPoS terminals.

The event was witnessed by the Gazelle District Development Authority (DDA) CEO, Rosemary Murure, and Board Members.
