Excitement over StartupPNG convention growing

Excitement about next week’s StartupPNG Convention is growing amongst the entrepreneurship and SME community in PNG.

Two-hundred-and-eighty interested SMEs turned up at last week’s information night at the Kumul Foundation Inc PNG Startup Hub to listen to Foundation Chairman, Anthony Smaré, and entrepreneurship developer, Des Yaninen, talk about the benefits at the Convention. This includes the PitchFest where SMEs will be pitching to raise money.

Hundreds of tickets have been taken up, and startups and other SMEs have signed on for SME stalls and promotion opportunities at the week-long event.

The coordinators of the SME Marketplace at the Convention, Edward Timmy and Isaac Elijah, have called for more SMEs to take up the opportunity to showcase and sell their products.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for SMEs that have unique products or services to market and sell their product. While they are attending the Convention, they can also get advice from Kina Bank, BSP, IRC, IPA and firms such as Deloitte, and they can form partnerships and develop their business networks which will benefit them in their entrepreneurial journey.”

“For SMEs and food businesses interested in setting up stalls at the Convention, please call us [7941 5979] if you are interested.”

The StartupPNG Entrepreneurship & Impact Convention will be held from 19 to 22 November at the International Convention Center in Port Moresby. General admission weekly tickets are K165 per person from Ticketmasta outlets.

The StartUp PNG Convention will be the Pacific’s largest entrepreneurship event with local and international speakers on entrepreneurship, disruption, innovation, startups, SMEs and impact; an SME marketplace featuring 50+ PNG SMEs; a  Startup Showcase featuring 30+ PNG startups; the largest pitching event for PNG startups and entrepreneurs to pitch for investment and financing, an exclusive VIP program for business and political leaders to discuss measures to improve opportunities for PNG entrepreneurs, ‘how to run your business better’ clinics by knowledge aspects such as Deloitte and Kina Bank, and  Kumul Heroes Entrepreneurship awards recognising exemplary individuals and organisations for significant achievement in entrepreneurship, innovation or impact.
