Diploma in microfinance launched

A professional diploma in microfinance has been launched and will be offered in PNG.

The new course, which was developed in partnership with the Institute of Banking and Business Management (IBBM) and the Centre for Excellence in Financial Inclusion, was launched by Bank of PNG Governor, Loi Bakani.

During a welcome dinner for participants of the Financial Inclusion Summit in Port Moresby, Bakani said the three-level diploma is an essential tool kit for financial capacity development.

He commended the Asian Development Bank, and the Australian Government for also assisting in the development of the diploma course.

The course is designed as a toolkit, to facilitate staff training at Microfinance Institutions and Savings and Loans Societies.

It is intended to help those wishing to undertake employment and build skill sets, suitable for the fast growing microfinance industry.

It is also intended for those interested in starting or growing their career in the microfinance in PNG, and other developing countries.
