BSP introduces new branded cards

With a huge fan base of the Australian rugby league competition here in PNG, one commercial bank is tapping into this very lucrative sports marketing to lure more customers.

Bank South Pacific, PNG, today announced their new branded Kundu Cards.

It’s either a Queensland Maroons or a New South Wales Blues bank card, depending on which team you support.

Bank South Pacific Group CEO, Robin Fleming, announced the new range of the co-branded BSP cards today at the BSP’s Harbour City Branch in Port Moresby.

The co-branding follows extensive research and surveys and numerous discussions and negotiations between the bank and the Australia Rugby League (ARL).

BSP has 1.9 million customers throughout PNG which many of whom are card holders.

The bank hopes to increase the number of customers with bank cards.

“It (rugby) is a sport that generates a lot of interest,” said Fleming.

“We want people to take advantage of their allegiances with the State of Origin and it is a branding association with ARL so we do hope more developments to come with the co-branding.

“In the coming months we will have a lot of co-branding cards with a lot to offer for the NRL fans.”

BSP customers can choose between the usual BSP Kundu card or they can choose the new State of Origin co-branded bank cards.

“The card retains the BSP branding.

“We’ll have them in a pre-generated state, which means you can choose at the time you get your new account open. If you have an existing card, you can replace it with the new one.”

The new cards are on offer commencing today onwards in all BSP branches throughout the country.

The bank has pre-generated the first 66,000 cards to be distributed.
