​Thai business delegation in PNG

​A visiting delegation from Thailand is in the country to seek potential trade opportunities.

Led by Thai Ambassador to PNG, His Excellency Chirachai Punkrasin, the delegation arrived on Wednesday and will host seminar and open discussions for three days.

The delegation opened their visit with a seminar yesterday in Port Moresby.

The group comprises of directors from the Thai Trade Centre, Thai Board of Investment and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, who are based in Sydney, Australia.

The delegation aims to increase trade and investment between both countries and are looking for opportunities to enhance this.

“We think that there are a lot of opportunities and great potential for us. So by coming here we want to learn about those opportunities and take that back to our business community and private sector in our country that they are aware of these opportunities,” said Ambassador Chirachai.

The delegation also believes that their experience in developing from an agriculture based economy and broadening to a manufacturing and industrial sectors as well could be an example to PNG.

Ambassador Chirachai said they believed both countries can learn a lot from each other.

“There were some discussions about some of the areas where Thailand has experience and expertise, such as agriculture or in public health, textiles, and some of these other industries that we can share with PNG so we can strengthen and grow our relationship.”

The delegation travels to Lae today and departs on Saturday.
