New commercial hub for micro, small businesses

The National Development Bank will be opening its Business Incubation Centre which will promote and empower PNG owned and operated micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

NDB, through its subsidiary NDB Investments, has extended the Stret Pasin Stoa scheme to include this commercial hub where MSMEs can set up offices or shops to trade from.

In a statement, the NDBI said: “In response to the high cost of commercial rental rates for shops and office spaces, NDBI developed the Centre that is aimed at businesses operating out of home or using an e-commerce platform.

“The Centre is located along Kunai Street at Hohola, Port Moresby, and boasts 45 allotments that are now leasing for a minimum of 12 months, with rentals ranging from K900 to K3000 per month.”

The official opening of the Centre is set for Friday, June 02.

“Following the ceremony, the Centre will be open to the public for trading,” said NDBI.

“This Centre will be the second of its kind, with first operating in Goroka.”

NCD Governor Powes Parkopis expected to officiate at the event, on behalf of NCDC whom NDB is partnering in making the service available to residents of Port Moresby engaged in small businesses.

Over 50 percent of the Centre has been tenanted. The businesses include: Retail of Women's Formal Wear & Accessories, Natural Medicines, Sports Equipment and services such as Men's Barber, Business and IT Consultancy.
