The Lae police Sector Response Unit has been acknowledged as an effective policing strategy.
The SRU was launched as a re-strategizing policing unit on the 21st April 2017, in an effort to effectively police the city through sector representation by use of colours to represent the area of the area of operations of five sector response unit.
