IPA moves to cloud storage

The Investment Promotion Authority has moved its online registry system from its in house servers to internet based cloud storage.

The move is part of IPA’s endeavour to bring quality and efficient services to its clients.

“The IPA wants to ensure that the best available registry services are provided to the PNG public,” said IPA acting managing director, Clarence Hoot.

Technical assistance to transfer the registry is being provided by the pacific private sector development initiative, a program undertaken by the Asian Development Bank in partnership with the governments of Australia and New Zealand.

Meantime on questions of data security the program implementers assured that the cloud system is secure.

“The technical team that is being contracted to implement the project is using the Amazon web services, and Amazon web services is one of the current providers that treat security as very high on its agenda. So we have no doubt that the security of data is secure,” said ADB representative Rosanda Kora.

Hoot further added that the online system made sure that all security features are up to world standards.

“As you know, all our payments are made online and part of our arrangement with the service provider on the credit card and visa payment through Westpac bank is to international standards.”

The Investment Promotion Authority is dubbed the country’s best performing public service organisation. In 2013 the IPA went online allowing clients to register online.

In 2017 the IPA got the Integrity Initiative of excellence award as per an “Ease of Doing Business Survey”.
