All young women need strong male role models

The attitude and expectations of the men in my life have shaped me. From a young age, I was expected to play sport, to be adventurous, to be successful at school and in my career by my dad.

I don’t think I’m alone. I’ve noticed that among my peers, most of the women who are confident and uninhibited in the careers and choices they make are the ones with strong male role models or ones who have fathers with high expectations of them.

Embassy Awards 3 Grants to Combat Gender Based Violence

A total of S45, 000 (K125, 000) was allocated to Port Moresby base, PNG Cancer Foundation and Women Doctors Association of PNG and Laswara Rural Women’s Project in Kundiawa, Simbu Province.   

The funding falls under the Ambassador’s small grants program and the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) for community-based projects that combat gender based violence in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
