West Ham United

Spurs beat Hammers

The visitors were fortunate just before halftime when VAR ruled out Son Heung-min's goal for offside, but their luck deserted them after the break at an empty Tottenham Stadium.

Defeat left West Ham above the relegation zone on goal difference from Bournemouth who have a game in hand.

Tottenham's first win in eight matches in all competitions kept them in the hunt for a Champions League qualification berth.

Jose Mourinho's side are seventh with 45 points, one behind fifth-placed Manchester United.

West Ham sack recruitment chief

Henry was suspended by the club on Thursday after reports in the Daily Mail claimed he had said West Ham would not sign any more African players as they "cause mayhem" when not selected.

Manchester City break English record

By winning 4-0 at Swansea on Wednesday (Thursday NZ time), City racked up their 15th straight victory - a feat never achieved in the 129-year history of England's top division.

City are unbeaten after 17 games and have now scored 52 goals, the latest coming at Liberty Stadium through David Silva (2), Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero against last-placed Swansea.

West Ham United and All Whites stalwart Winston Reid kept Arsenal scoreless at the London Stadium to secure a 0-0 draw, but the Hammers still sit second-bottom of the table.

Slick City dump out Hammers

The visitors led 3-0 at half-time thanks to strikes by Yaya Toure, via the penalty spot, a Havard Nordtveit own goal and David Silva.

However, things got even worse for the Hammers in the second half as further efforts from Sergio Aguero - his 18th goal in all competitions this season - and John Stones rounded off the scoring for City.

As a result, it will be City's name in the hat for the fourth-round draw on Monday, while Slaven Bilic and Co can now concentrate on trying to rise up the Premier League table.

Astra 1 West Ham 1: Noble penalty not enough

A late equaliser from Denis Alibec saw Astra hold West Ham to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Europa League play-off on Thursday.

Captain Mark Noble scored from the penalty spot just before half-time to give the Premier League side a valuable away goal, but the hosts levelled with seven minutes to play at Marin Anastasovici Stadium to keep the tie finely poised.
