Failure to report death case adjourned

Kume Keware, 33, of Sinesine District of Chimbu Province was supposed to have his lawyer inform the court on Wednesday whether he will file a response to the court finding sufficient evidence against him.

That case was adjourned because the presiding magistrate dealing with the case is on Court circuit in Alotau.

He is facing allegations that he failed to report the killing of his 'lover' after his wife, Olivia Warome had allegedly killed her in his presence.

Warome has since been committed to stand trial at the Waigani National Court for the alleged offense.

Woman on trial for stabbing

Brenda Kens of Nipa, Southern Highlands Province is facing allegations she allegedly cause unlawful wounding to a Lucy Herry Lingine on Oct 18,2015.

The alleged incident took place at the Fortune club after Kens was informed via text message of the whereabouts of Lingine.

Kens pleaded not guilty to the charge when read in court by Magistrate Cosmas Bidar.

She said she was provoked by the text messages she received that night that led her to stab Lingine.

The Court heard Kens stabbed Lingine in the thigh and back that night.

Australian on K4, 000 bail

Ian John Proctor, 67 years, of Cairns, Queensland, Australia was arrested and charged yesterday (Dec 8)  and made his first appearance at the Waigani District court today.

It is alleged that between August 24, 2004 and November 15, 2015 Proctor with the assistance of two accomplices from O’Briens Lawyers stole K3, 126,830.00, the property of Pioneer Health Services Ltd.

Proctor was employed and retained as an operations manager and public officer of Pioneer Health Services Ltd after he resigned as a director and sold his shares in the company in May 2003.

Husband in court for circulating ‘intimate performance’

The man appeared at the Waigani District Court after his wife laid a complaint with police.

He was arrested late last month and charged with knowingly and without lawful excuse publicly exhibiting his performance with another person (his wife).

The couple (names withheld) have been married for eight years and have two children.

The wife, who is the complainant, reported the matter to police in Port Moresby on November 29 after she was given a copy of the video by a family member.

Indecent fb images lands woman in court

The woman (name withheld) was charged on October 22 this year for using an Information Communication service to circulate indecent images on Facebook.

It is alleged the young woman on September 15 this year posted pictures of her private parts on Facebook and captioned the picture as that of another woman.

Relatives of the other woman found the picture on Facebook under an account allegedly belonging to the accused.

The picture was posted under a nicknamed Facebook account.

A report was later placed with police that led to the arrest of the woman.

NHC staff acquitted by Court

Madeline Paulisbo, was facing allegations of misappropriation, official corruption and abuse of office in her capacity as the Acting Assets General Manager of Property Management.

Magistrate Cosmas Bidar in his ruling this morning cleared Paulisbo off all those charges after the court found insufficient evidence.

It was alleged she dishonestly applied to the use of others a property under the name of the late Sir Joseph Nombri between May 6, 2008 and February 19, 2009. Sir Joseph Nombri was the tenant of the property.

Justin Parker’s lawyer to make submissions

His lawyer briefly appeared before Magistrate Cosmos Bidar giving an indication that he will be presenting submissions on November 18.

Also on that day, Police Prosecution will also be given the opportunity to respond to the submissions.

Police investigations against Parker have been completed and both he and his co-accused Akai Andekumo also from Jiwaka have been served their handout brief files.

Parker is facing allegations of willfully murdering his chief aircraft engineer, Lapan Nason, at his home at Gorobe, Badili on June 8.

Hotel takes duo to court

The accused Ashley Maya Tati Jones of Baluan, Manus and Musau, New Ireland provinces and Peter Gire of South fly district,Western province appeared in court today.

They appeared before the Waigani District court on charges of partly fake promises with intent to defraud.

The complainant, Gateway Hotel from the Coral sea group of companies took the duo to court after they used false promises to get the hotel manager to give them accommodation and other allowances for free.
