Improvement for PMGH health services

This will emphasize mutual learning in poly-trauma evaluation and treatment to enhance healthcare services.

At a joint press conference today at the Corporate Client Clinic, the conference, led by Dr. Asa, Chair of the Clinical Governance Committee at Port Moresby General Hospital, featured key speakers, including Katherine Monahan, Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy for Mosby, Dr. Paki Molumi, CEO of Port Moresby General Hospital, and Lt. Col. Andrew Galdi, the US Medical Team lead.

US grateful for PNG’s assistance

On June 21, four American military jets were traveling through international airspace when they were forced to make an unscheduled diversion to their planned flight path.

With permission from Papua New Guinea’s Department of Transport, the aircraft landed at Jacksons International Airport for about one hour and were able to continue their flight.

Thanks to the quick work of the Department of Transport and Jacksons Airport staff, the American aircraft were able to continue safely to their intended destination and will fondly remember Papua New Guinea’s hospitality.

Climate change officer participates in US leadership program

Taera is a projects officer with the Climate Change and Development Authority. Her role is to provide research, analysis, technical advice and policy development on the identified priority areas for climate change adaptation in PNG.

The program Taera will join is titled “Our Planet - Climate Change and Renewable Energy”, and runs from January 23 through February 10 in the United States. 

PNG Women’s Forum applications now open

The United States Embassy, the Papua New Guinea Tribal Foundation and the Department of Community Development recently made the announcement.

“This Regional Forum is in response to overwhelming requests from women across Papua New Guinea that the Forum extend its reach outside Port Moresby, this time to the Highlands Region,” says the Embassy in a statement.

US supports disaster response office

U.S. Ambassador Walter North was on hand to officially open the new office with country representative of IOM, George Gigauri. 

Ambassador North said the new facility is part of the United States’ ongoing support for drought relief for the Highlands Region. 

“The U.S. Government is committed to supporting the people of Papua New Guinea who have been affected by the El Niño," Ambassador North said.
