Cost of rice will not increase: Trukai

Trukai Industries CEO, Greg Worthington-Eyre, said while Trukai understands and is deeply concerned over the current economic conditions in PNG, and the pending inflationary impact of fuel price increases, currency devaluation and reduced consumer spending power, it has no plans at this point of passing on the impact of these issues to PNG consumers.

Worthington-Eyre says Trukai’s focus on food security, which includes affordability and quality, is at the forefront and they will be making every effort to support the people of PNG.

50 bales of rice for Kadovar

East Sepik Governor Allan Bird yesterday received the 50 bales of 1kg rice from Trukai's district sales marketing manager, Caspar Jeffrey.

The rice, as well as 200 cartons of bottled water, will be shipped out to Ruprup (Blup Blup) Island, where the Kadovar people have taken refuge.

The naval ship from the Lombrum Naval base in Manus has since been delivering relief supplies, and will do so again today.

Governor Bird will travel to Ruprup Island today (Jan 13) to see the distribution of the rest of the relief supplies.

Madang joins fight against AIDS

Throughout Madang, banners of the red ribbon signifying the fight against HIV/AIDS have been put up.

Even companies like the Trukai Industries Madang depo have joined in, putting up a banner since Wednesday.

Today, all staff came to work with a red ribbon.

"This is an annual thing for Trukai. We support a lot of health programs, and World AIDS Day is one of them,” said Jillanne Valu, regional sales manager - Momase.

“It's sad to see a lot of people dying from this disease that can be avoided."

Sir John praises Trukai for continued support to sports

He said this after Trukai Industries General Manager-Sales and Marketing, Andrew Daubney, presented a cheque for K500,000 from the Trukai Fun Run to the PNGOC yesterday.

The cheque was to support Team PNG to the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu in December.

Dawanincura said Trukai has been supporting a number of sporting teams and associations which includes the PNG Weightlifting Federation and the PNGOC.

He thanked Trukai and acknowledged their support of PNGOC through the Trukai Fun Run for the last 18 years.

Rice distributor to lower price in 2017

In what was initially a December price reduction aimed at alleviating Christmas budget pressures for its millions of local customers, Trukai Industries reduced the cost of its Roots Medium Grain Rice products by a significant 14 per cent.

The festive gesture has paid major dividends, with Trukai consequently experiencing a major spike in sales.

Trukai Industries CEO Greg Worthington-Eyre said that as a result of overwhelming public response, the 14 per cent reduction will now stand as a permanent price point.

Trukai staff to join police reserve program

This was made possible through the signing of an historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will see select Trukai staff join the RPNGC.

The MoU, which was announced last week at Police Headquarters in Konedobu, Port Moresby, saw Police Commissioner Gari Baki and Trukai Industries CEO, Greg Worthington-Eyre, witness the signing.

“To begin this MoU with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary and its Reserve Police Program, Trukai Industries will provide a core group of eight Trukai security personnel,” said Worthington-Eyre.

Trukai brings festive cheer with major Roots Rice drop

Despite experiencing the same tough economic conditions as other local companies in what has been a tough year for PNG business, Trukai has again prioritised the needs of its customers and wants to help stretch small family budgets in need of a boost at Christmas time.

So the rice favourite has implemented a price drop of 14 per cent to help offset the inevitable extra costs associated with the Christmas season.

Jonathan Thurston backed new ‘ Roots Long Grain’ rice launched

This is a new rice product introduced under Trukai’s popular ‘ROOTS’ value brand, which is focused on providing a value for money, high quality rice for grass roots consumers.

“With the launch of our Roots Long Grain Rice range we are providing an affordable rice option to the low-income consumer, while still providing a product that is of high quality and flavour,” said Trukai GM Sales and Marketing, Andrew Daubney.

World Food Day reflects Trukai’s future planning in PNG agriculture

In Trukai Industries, it was clear that one company above all others in PNG represented what the FOA is asking of institutions related to the farming and agriculture sector in developing nations.

Trukai’s progressive programs aimed at developing local capacity to grow rice in PNG parallels with one of the central messages from the FOA to global companies: “Local institutions need to develop capacities and motivate men and women farmers.”
