Argument on Ramu nickel spillage continues

Yama said the findings of Dr Alex Mojon on the Ramu nickel spill into Basamuk Bay in August cannot be disputed.

He stressed that Dr Alex Mojon was a professional environmental scientist who is known all over the world; his investigation cannot be overlooked.

“If this country can gamble with money and the lives of my people, I say ‘no it won’t happen!’” said Yama.

“It’s my province and my home. I am mandated by my people. And I will stand by my people.”

Residents urged not to fish in treatment ponds

Eda Ranu managing director, Henry Mokono, said it’s been a common practise and wants it to stop.

He made the comments during the commissioning of the Sewerage Treatment Facility at Morata.

Mokono said the treatment facility contained toxic waste by-products which are poisonous and harmful, making the fish inedible.

He added some of the fish were also sold at markets or on the street.

“The fish in here they are not safe to eat. Although we got thousands of fish right now in that secondary pond, I’m told that all the waste is too much.

PNG gospel band reveals changes

The release of a new album and change of name to Covenant Creed is among the few, according to Pr. Anthony Audo, a pioneer of the group.
The album, to be launched in October 22, will bring a different style of music, shifting from worship type to a more dance and pop style.
Pr. Anthony says the changes come with a new sound, new songs and new faces, capturing an audience of all age groups. And with the band’s songs used in at least 42 different countries, the new music will be well suited for both international and local audience.
