Titans stun Raiders with comeback win

Despite being dominated by Canberra for most of the match, the Titans somehow managed to score 18 straight points in the final 15 minutes to close out the match, after displaying very little in attack for the opening 65 minutes of the match.

Mead retained as Titans fullback

On the back of their 30-12 win over Newcastle last Sunday Henry has taken the luxury of naming both Zillman and Luke Douglas (suspension) on an extended bench while retaining the same 13 that took the field against the Knights.

Interchange forward Eddy Pettybourne is in doubt with a severe cork to his thigh which would open the door for Douglas, the club's reigning player of the year, to come straight back into the 17.

Zillman in doubt, Olive on ice for Titans

Although paperwork is still to be finalised on Olive's move from Redfern to the Gold Coast, Olive joined the Titans' playing group on Monday on day one of a three-year deal and again trained with the squad in driving rain on Tuesday.

While he has been named at fullback Zillman did not train on Tuesday afternoon but will be given until later in the week to prove he is fit to play his first game since Round 10 last season when a chronic back injury ended his 2015 campaign early.

Former Titan returns a changed man

Speaking for the first time since joining the Rabbitohs midway through last season, Carter will start on the bench on Saturday against his former club, the Titans, the club that sacked him just months after proclaiming him their 2014 rookie of the year.

The former Australian Schoolboy exceeded all expectations by playing 21 games in his first season at the Titans two years ago, but two drink driving convictions in the space of six months saw the club tear up his contract.

Mead ready to lead Titans young guns

Heading into the 2016 season Mead and co-captain William Zillman are the only two backs who have played more than 100 games for the Titans, Mead's connection stretching back nine seasons to Gold Coast's inaugural under-20s team in 2008.

Named on the wing for Saturday night's trial against the Rabbitohs at Pizzey Park, the 27-year-old will be surrounded by youngsters pushing for inclusion in Neil Henry's Round 1 team to face the Knights.

Paasi inspires Titans win over Raiders

Despite kicking out on the full to start the game the Raiders opened the scoring when big prop Paul Vaughan pushed over from dummy half through rookie playmaker Ash Taylor. The Raiders' next kick-off didn't go the 10 and this time they paid the penalty as Paasi crashed over in the bonus zone shortly after.

Project Paasi paying dividends for Titans

Having arrived on the Gold Coast prior to Christmas overweight and underdone, Paasi stripped plenty of kilograms in the early stages of the Titans' pre-season having taken the gamble to save any semblance of an NRL career with a modest 'train and trial' contract.

But the big test was how he returned at the start of 2015 and whether the Titans coaching staff saw enough commitment and sacrifice over the Christmas break to warrant issuing the then 23-year-old a second-tier contract.
