Repentance Day ends on high note in capital city

Hundreds of city residents started swarming through the Sir John Guise stadium gates for the Planetshakers concert by 4pm, leading to a standstill in traffic. By 7pm, the outer stands were packed while the pitch was 70 percent filled with youths, especially high school students.

The Australian gospel band’s performance was part of today’s National Repentance Day program that was organised by the Body-of-Christ.

Parliament to resume this Friday

This is in compliance with the Order of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCC[OS]) No. 3 of 2016 dated July 12.

The Supreme Court ordered the speaker to recall parliament within 5 days, including today, to have the motion of no-confidence introduced, debate and voted on as a matter of national importance and urgency.

An order was also made to the clerk of parliament to place the notice of motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister as the first item of business of parliament on the first day of sitting.

Colonels get employment contract confirmation

Colonels including the Defence Force  Chief of Staff, Colonel Mark Goina were all present to have their contracts  signed by the Acting Governor General,  Speaker Theo Zurenuoc  and the PNGDF Commander Gilbert Toropo.

Also at the ceremony was the Secretary for Defence Vali Asi.

Other notable colonels sworn in  included the Chief of personnel, John Rakatani, Chief of Logistics Benoma Siria, Joint Force Commander Ezekia Wenzel and Chief of Operations Siale Diro.
