SP records one year with ‘No Accidents’ at Lae Brewery

Managing Director, Stan Joyce said the company has gone refined its operations to ensure that safety is achieved at all levels.

Joyce said no other asset in the company is as important as the people that contribute with their work to our business results.

“Therefore SP Brewery is committed in ensuring that all our staff are provided a healthy and safe working environment,” said Joyce.

Lae Brewery Manager, Stephan Jansen said the staff celebrated in Lae, a milestone that has not been achieved in living memory: 365 days without an accident.

SP Export Lager recognised at international level

The awards are held annually in Brussels where an independent panel of expert judges does a sensory evaluation and assessment of the beer in a blind tasting.

There were about 429 entrants of beer and soft drinks products from all over the world involved in the blind tasting.

The judging panel consisted of experts who have over 30 years of experience and trained in this area.

The judges took into account the ingredients used, the brewing process and techniques.

SP boosts 60th Goroka Show with K10,000

Corporate relations manager for SP Brewery, John Nilkare, said this is part of the company’s commitment to promoting cultural heritage.

“This Show is always a highlight for the province and SP Brewery is happy to continue its association with the Show to promote PNG’s diverse cultural heritage,” said Nilkare.

In receiving the cheque, Goroka Show chairperson, Keryn Hargreaves, acknowledged SP Brewery’s participation over the last 10 years.

SP comes good with K250, 000 for PNG Games

The money was presented today to the Host Organizing Committee for the Games to ensure the two week event is a success.

SP Brewery’s Managing Director, Stan Joyce said the company was excited to be part of the biggest local sporting event in the country with participation from the 22 provinces.

SP Brewery backs Westpac’s Entrepreneur Award

The brewery yesterday announced its involvement in once again sponsoring the Entrepreneur Award.

The SP Brewery Entrepreneur Award recognises outstanding achievements by a woman with at least a 50 percent shareholding in an organisation in the field of innovation for new products and services.

In show of this support, SP Brewery Managing Director Stan Joyce presented a K25,000 cheque to Westpac’s Chief Financial Officer David Brennan.

Freak road accident leaves one dead in Moresby

The accident happened along the freeway near SP Brewery at around 3pm today.

An eyewitness said the victim was standing on the side of the road, waiting to cross, when the incident happened.

The witness said the truck, in an attempt to avoid bumping another man who was already crossing the freeway, swept across the road towards the right and hit the victim, who was waiting to cross. 

He said the driver of the truck and two other passengers fled the scene.

SP joins blood drive to save lives

The efforts are part of the corporate blood drive run by the Youth Blood Drive campaign to get bags of blood for the Port Moresby General Hospital as well as ANGAU hospital in Lae.

Corporate Communications Manager for SP, Dorothy Bengo said the staff from SP have been donating blood for hospitals twice every year for close to 10 years now.

“SP as part of its civic duty wants to help join in the fight to help save lives,” said Bengo.

Nilkare: SP Brewery supports SME development

The new Settlement Tavern Project aims to roll out 20 taverns in settlements throughout the country with three taverns already set up at Gaire in Central Province, Baruni in National Capital District and Nine-Mile.

Take away options in this settlement taverns is no options and beer bought will have to be consumed and not taken out of the premises in order to promote responsible drinking in the settlement areas.

Supplement to this tavern initiative is the Container Stores Project located along the highways throughout the country.

SP Brewery launches new tavern at Nine-Mile

The tavern comes under SP Brewery’s Settlement Tavern Project aimed at  alleviating social problems associated with alcohol like drinking in public places and disturbing the peace in the community.

The project aims to roll out 20 taverns throughout the country with three taverns already set up at Gaire in Central Province, Baruni in the National Capital District and Nine-Mile Settlement.

Part of the settlement tavern package is a 20 foot container equipped with some coolers, a generator, two dart boards, a TV screen and a playbox.
