MPG aims to empower local entrepreneurs

The Morobe Provincial Government has made the commitment to help Morobeans access the state’s funding assistance, which is part of the K200 million budgeted in 2020 to support local businesses.

An awareness session on the new MPG MSME & Cooperative Societies program was conducted at the Immanuel Lutheran School yesterday, attracting a large turnout of locals who were keen to learn how to start their own businesses or cooperative societies.

Local women entrepreneurs motivated to grow business

The open day market provided support to micro and small businesswomen to show off their products to new customers and expand their networks.

Westpac retail banking coach leadership and change, Alipate Suguturaga said Westpac is an advocate for women as they’re the backbone of society in terms of growing economies.

Suguturaga said, “We are so humbled by what we saw, women entrepreneurs going about their tasks selling various items from food to art, flowers, jewelry and cosmetics.

Lihir business development re-opens

The reopening of the office, which has been in hibernation for the last eight years, is seen by Lihirians as a step in the right direction to assist locals setup and operate successful business during and after mine life.

Lihir Gold Limited human resource officer, Mathilda Lusan, said the change was needed to help all Lihirians.

“As a young Lihirian, I strongly agree that business development is reverted to Newcrest to help landowners set up businesses here for the benefit of our future generation and for life after the mine.
