Simbu farewells longtime public servant

Late John Wamil Gul was officially farewelled by the provincial administration, including Governor Michael Dua and Ac­ting Provincial Administrator, Sebastian Kee.

Late Gul served the Simbu Provincial Administration since 1987 until his time of passing on September 11th, 2021.

Acting Provincial Administrator, Kee, while addressing family, friends of Late Gul and public servants, said the Simbu Provincial Administration will revive the policy of having state funeral, officially releasing public servants upon their passing to their families and relatives.

Conservation Project receive K20,000 from Simbu government

Mt Karimui Conservation Project is located in the Chimbu Province and is home to a variety of biodiverse flora and fauna that are worth preserving.

The Governor’s Executive Officer Peter Gaimai upon presenting the Cheque to the Mt. Karimui Project Coordinator John Sethie stated that Simbu province revenue making is about K2 million annually which is not enough to cater for development projects thus they rely on Government funding through PSIP funds to counter fund their provincial programs.

Upgraded Kegesuglo airstrip to service Mt Wilhelm

The re-development of the Kegesuglo airstrip will give accessibility to both local and international tourists to visit Mt Wilhelm.

Chief executive officer of Rural Airstrip Agencies John Bromley signed the MOU with Kundiawa Gembogl Administration, promising the maintenance work to be carried out before the end of the year.

Bromley said the upgrading will not only provide services to visitors but also help villagers transport their fresh produce to the market.
