Fiji Warriors crowned Pacific Challenge champions

A clinical display by the brave Warriors helped the side thrash Samoa A 36-0 at the ANZ Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva.

Fiji Warriors scored four tries and a penalty try also helped seal the impressive win. The tries were scored by right winger Nacani Wakaya, left winger Lepani Raiyala, lock Mataiasi Ucutabua and inside centre Frederick Hickes.

Fullback Kitione Ratu was successful with two conversions. Captain Peni Ravai's boys displayed quality rugby to demolish the Samoans. Fiji Warriors led 16-0 at halftime.

Third MP quits in Samoa

On the first day of debate for the ruling HRPP government's last supplementary budget for 2015 to 2016, one government MP Alo Fulifuli Taveuveu has announced his resignation and will not contest in the upcoming general election.

The MP for Anoama'a i Sasa'e constituency says he will not seek re-election because of his poor health.

This comes after one of the Tautua Samoa opposition party MPs, Toeleutu Voi, from the Faasaleleaga number three constituency announced his resignation last month.

Tuilagi struck Japan's Harumichi Tatekawa with his knee in the second minute of the Pool B match on Sunday.

He denied the act of foul play but was found guilty by the citing commissioner and will miss Samoa's last match against Scotland at St James' Park on Sunday.

Samoa cannot reach the quarter-finals after losses to Japan and South Africa in Pool B.

Pacific police gather for crime conference

Police representatives from across the region are attending the three-day gathering.

The Samoa Police Commissioner, Egon Keil, says the conference will allow police to share experiences and concerns.

"We're going to be going through some very, very intense training and some experiences sharing so we can focus on the regional issues. Because if it's happening in Samoa, we'd like to know what Fiji is doing about it, what New Zealand is doing about it, what Australia is doing about it, so we can combat it here in Samoa."
