World cup Paul Barrière Trophy to tour PNG

The Paul Barrière Trophy will tour PNG in months leading up to the tournament. 

The RLWC2017 is scheduled from October 26-December 2 and will be co-hosted by Australia, New Zealand and PNG.

RLWC2017 tournament partner, Oil Search, will take part in significant programs within the community with RLWC over the next 10 months.

This includes the Paul Barrière Trophy tour across the country where Oil Search will have the naming rights to the trophy tour.

The RLWC2017 is scheduled from October 26-December 2 and will be co-hosted by Australia, New Zealand and PNG.

PNG will host national team Kumuls’ three pool matches at the National Football Stadium (NFS) against Wales (October 28), Ireland (November 5) and the USA (November 12).

RLWC2017 general manager commercial and marketing, Rohan Sawyer, said it’s an exciting year for rugby league in PNG.

Sawyer thanked the Government and Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko for their support of RLWC2017.

Ticket sales for RLWC2017 in PNG will soon be announced

The RLWC2017 is scheduled from October 26 to December 2 and will be co-hosted by Australia, New Zealand and PNG.

PNG will host national team Kumuls’ three pool matches against Wales (October 28), Ireland (Nov 5) and the USA (Nov 12).

RLWC2017 general manager commercial and marketing, Rohan Sawyer said the tournament will be the biggest event in the region during 2017.

An estimated 450,000 fans will attend the event which would be a tournament record.

National Football Stadium confirmed to host RLWC2017

This was announced today by RLWC2017 general manager commercial and marketing, Rohan Sawyer.

NFS will host the PNG Kumuls’ three pool matches against Wales (October 28), Ireland (November 5) and the USA (November 12).

NFS, formerly Lloyd Robson Oval, recently underwent a two- year redevelopment program ahead of the country hosting the 2015 Pacific Games and 2016 FIFA Under 20’s Women’s World Cup.

The stadium hosted a sold-out PNG Kumuls versus Australian Prime Minister’s XIII match in September 2016.

The RLWC2017 is scheduled from October 26 to December 2 and will be co-hosted by Australia, New Zealand and PNG.

PNG will host national team Kumuls’ three pool matches against Wales (October 28), Ireland (November 5) and the USA (November 12).

As Official Platinum Partner, Oil Search will have a branding presence that will be seen in over 110 countries where the RLWC2017 is broadcast.

Oil Search will also partner the World Cup Trophy Tour and community program to be run by the RLWC2017 OC throughout PNG.

Programs leading up to RLWC to be announced in Feb

The World Cup tournament will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand from October 27 to December 2, while Papua New Guinea will host the Kumuls’ three pool matches in Port Moresby.

PNG Kumuls will play their first pool match against Wales on October 28.

The second pool match is against Ireland on November 5 and the third match against the United States on November 12.

Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko said 2017 is going to be a big year for rugby league especially now that PNG will be hosting the RLWC for the first time in history.

Meninga: PNG did extremely well

Speaking after Saturday's game, Meninga commended the efforts of the NGCB PNG PM's XIII.

"I thought the effort tonight from PNG was really spirited.

"They had great attitude playing against one of the best teams in the world.

"Considering the players Michael had at his helm, I thought PNG did extemely well,"I think the future of rugby league in PNG is pretty bright" said Meninga.

He added there were a lot of good perfromances from the  PNG players.
