Five-game ban for Ronaldo

The Portugal star played out a dramatic cameo at Camp Nou, coming off the bench to score a stunner before getting booked for removing his shirt in celebration.

He took a tumble in the box just two minutes later and earned a second yellow card for an apparent dive, but Ronaldo allowed his anger to get the better of him as he then pushed referee Ricardo de Burgos.

The 32-year-old Portugal international could have been suspended for a maximum of 12 games, but the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has opted to impose a five-match ban.

Ronaldo: Beating Messi drives me

The 32-year-old Portugal international, who won the Ballon d'Or in January, is a firm favourite to be crowned the world's finest footballer for the fifth time following Madrid's triumphs in LaLiga and the Champions League in 2016-17.

Ronaldo and long-time rival Messi have shared the Ballon d'Or and FIFA Ballon d'Or every year since 2008 and another triumph for the former Manchester United man would see him draw level with the Barcelona great on the all-time list.

Ronaldo will stay at Real Madrid – Arbeloa

Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from the LaLiga winners amid reports he is unhappy at scrutiny of his tax affairs in Spain.

The Portugal international has denied defrauding Spanish tax authorities out of €14.7million in image rights.

Arbeloa, who won two Champions League titles and a LaLiga crown at Madrid and retired in June, said he was sure Ronaldo would stay.

"He is very intelligent. When the perfect moment arrives to speak, he will," he told El Chiringuito TV.

Ronaldo denies tax fraud complaint

Earlier on Tuesday, Prosecutors in Madrid filed a complaint to a court in Pozuelo de Alarcon that accused the four-time Ballon d'Or winner of a "voluntary" and "conscious" breach of his tax obligations.

The complaint suggested Ronaldo had created a "business structure" in 2010 to conceal earnings from image rights between 2011 and 2014.

Ronaldo hails Real Madrid's pivotal Champions League experience

Ronaldo's first-leg hat-trick put Los Blancos in command ahead of Tuesday's return fixture at the Vicente Calderon, where Isco's goal proved crucial in thwarting a potential Atletico comeback after early goals from Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann.

And Ronaldo highlighted Isco's strike as the crucial moment in the tie.

"We knew that with a goal we would kill them, we had more experience and we showed it," Ronaldo to El Larguero

Ronaldo I am from this planet!

Ronaldo hit a hat-trick for the second game running in the competition to give his side a 3-0 semi-final first-leg lead that puts them firmly on course to reach the final in Cardiff.

The 32-year-old was later honoured with a commemorative shirt by club president Florentino Perez for reaching 400 goals in all competitions for the club, although official records say he is on 399.

Ronaldo wins Ballon d’Or

Respected publication France Football named the 31-year-old forward as its player of the year on Monday, Ronaldo claiming the accolade ahead of arch-rival Lionel Messi of Barcelona.

Ronaldo enjoyed a glittering 2015-16 season with club and country, lifting the Champions League with Real Madrid and finally ending his wait for international honours, as Portugal triumphed at Euro 2016.

The former Sporting CP player won his first Ballon d'Or at Manchester United in 2008, before collecting the prize again at Madrid in 2013 and 2014.
