Babies Killed In Traffic Accident

Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent David Seine Jr said it was alleged that the vehicle, an Isuzu was traveling from Madang to Bemal village with passengers when it encountered the accident at 5.30 pm. 

"The vehicle transporting the passengers had a problem with its brakes which was why it could not stop so it had to drive to the other lane causing the accident.

The vehicle went off the road killing two babies, a 3-month-old baby and a 3-week-old baby," PPC Seine Jr said.

"At this time, we can confirm that five people are deceased and over 40 are injured," the Waukesha Police Department said on its Facebook page. "However, these numbers may change as we collect additional information."

Waukesha Police chief Dan Thompson earlier told reporters that a person of interest was in custody and a vehicle had been recovered after the incident in the town, about 32 km west of Milwaukee.

Drivers warned

This follows a recent fatal accident at Kilometer 119 along the highway.

The accident last week, claimed the life of a senior policeman while leaving an auxiliary policeman in a critical yet stable condition.

The third passenger in the car was left unharmed.

The North Fly police commander, Joe Puri says that investigations are continuing into the accident and further called on drivers to exercise caution while driving the road during this wet season.

“Drive safe to ensure that you stay alive,” warns the Commander.

 

Family sustain injuries following road accident

Police report that the family was traveling from Buka to Arawa in a 10 seater when their vehicle collided with another vehicle belonging to PNG Power Limited.

The family’s vehicle was badly damaged while the children and their mother have been admitted to the Arawa Hospital and are reported to be in critical but stable condition.

The father, Sams Biun, received a wound to his hand.

Biun explained that the other vehicle was at fault because it was on the same lane they were on and speeding which led to the collision.

Venus Williams being sued after road accident

A civil complaint filed today, days before the revered Wimbledon tournament, claims that Williams was negligent in the June 9th crash near her Florida residence in Palm Beach Gardens.

A passenger in a small sedan that collided with Williams' larger SUV, Jerome Barson, 78, died June 22, according to the suit and, separately, the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's office.

A coaster bus travelling from June Valley to Waigani knocked down a male adult, Mr Alu Mane.

Reports collected by police alleges that the victim was standing in the middle of the road.

One dead in Sogeri crash

Central police commander Laimo Asi says the death took place when a hired PMV bus got into an accident outside the Rouna 4 area.

Unfortunately, Asi could not provide additional details as his traffic officers are yet to finalise the initial site report.

The PPC only confirmed that the bus was on hire from a church group at the time of the incident.

Asi says the initial time of the incident was at 7pm but not much detail of the incident was given as yet to his office.

School bus crash kills 36 in Tanzania

The fatal crash happened in city of Arusha in Tanzania's northern Karatu District, on the edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

"The place where it happened is a hill, with a steep slope, and it was raining when the accident happened," Aruba Police Commander Charles Mkumbo said.

Mkumbo added investigators were still trying to determine exactly what caused the bus to leave the road. "We don't know if the driver was new or if there was a mechanical defect," he said.

13 victims of road accident laid to rest

Popondetta General Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr Gunzee Gawin told Loop PNG today that the bodies were taken to their villages on Wednesday and laid to rest today.

He said the remaining 10 victims from the 16 were still at the hospital but in a stable condition.

Dr Gawin said two were discharged this morning and eight remain at the hospital.

The accident involved a PMV truck and an oil palm fruit truck belonging to the Higaturu Oil Palm Ltd.

The 13 victims died instantly at the accident site.
