CNMI cat killing video goes viral

The video has prompted animal rights activists to call for legislation making animal abuse a crime.

On Wednesday, the Bureau of Environmental Health suspended the operation of Happiness Chinese Restaurant on Saipan after it was found in violation of sanitary regulations.

The suspension was not prompted by the video or claims the establishment was serving cat meat.

An anti-animal cruelty bill to protect cats and dogs that are house pets is currently languishing in the CNMI Senate after passing the House last year.

His office deals with food safety among other health issues within three electorates of NCD.

Hence this reminder comes with the responsibility to see food safety practices adhered to, to prevent health issues such as food poisoning.

Jonathan said each of the three electorates has at least four officers and this poses a difficult task in covering the whole city adequately.

Naked Fish restaurant opens at harbourside

And the latest addition to join a string of new restaurants and bars in the capital is the Naked Fish.

Located at ground floor of the Habourside Building overlooking the bay out to Fairfax, the Naked Fish was opened on Thursday  August 4, by Moresby South MP and Minister for Sport & National Events, Justin Tkatchenko, NCD Governor Powes Parkop, and partners of the Naked Fish.

Though a low key ceremony the ambience was that of a celebration with friends and VIP’s, including the PNG SP Hunters team and Kumuls Coach Michael Marum, attending the event.
