Trump unveils tax plan that would lower taxes for millions

Trump's plan for an overhaul of the U.S. tax code would eliminate federal income taxes on individuals earning less than $25,000 and married couples earning less than $50,000. He said those individuals would receive "a new one page form to send the IRS saying, 'I win.'"

Trump's plan would also disproportionally benefit wealthy earners by lowering the highest income tax rate from 39.6 percent to 25 percent, and businesses by cutting their tax rate — from major corporations to mom-and-pop shops — to no more than 15 percent.

Walker to drop out of GOP presidential race

The Wisconsin governor planned a news conference for Monday evening in Madison, where he was expected to become the second major GOP candidate to quit the race.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak before Walker's announcement.

Walker tried to capitalize on his record taking on unions and got off to a strong start after a well-received speech to Iowa conservatives in January, formally launching his campaign in July.

"What exactly is the tradition of the Confederate battle flag that we're supporting?" Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y. demanded as racial political tensions flared — ironically enough, on the day the same banner was losing its place of honor on the grounds outside the South Carolina capitol.

NJ Gov. Christie goes live with presidential campaign site

The new website —www.chrischristie.com — shows the New Jersey governor's name along with the slogan, "Telling it like it is."

And there's a short animated video posted on Christie's Twitter feed that promotes the new campaign site.

The site says it's paid for Chris Christie for President, Inc.

Donors and friends are getting invitations to Christie's campaign announcement event Tuesday at his former high school.

Christie will be the 14th Republican candidate to seek the nomination.

Trade bill clears Senate hurdle, at brink of final passage

The legislation cleared a key hurdle on a 60-37 vote, precisely the number needed.

A final vote is expected by Wednesday on the House-passed measure, which would then go to the White House for Obama's signature.
