PNG duo shine in UK

The duo played for the ICC Women’s Global Development Squad (WGDS) in their opening matches against Surrey Stars on Tuesday at New Maiden, Surrey in the United Kingdom.

In the first match, hosts Surrey Stars batted first and made 6/134 off their allotted 20 overs. Oa was the star with the ball for the ICC WGDS, taking an incredible 3/28 off her four overs, while Arua had figures of 0/15 off her two overs.

In reply, ICC WGDS chased down the target in less than 18 overs with Ireland’s Gabby Lewis (50*) and Scotland’s Sarah Bryce (45) leading the way.

HB women shine in cricket

City Pharmacy Lewas, Ravini Oa and Kaia Arua took time out from training today to speak with media about their selection into the International Cricket Councils Women’s Global Development Squad.

The squad 13 member squad will be playing the English Cricket Board Super League sides.

Both Hanubada women were happy for the opportunity and spoke about their main aims and motivating factors going into the team.

Ravini Oa spoke about her skill set and areas that she would like to improve on going into the training of the squad.

Aiming to be the best

And that was the exact opportunity Papua New Guinean pacer Ravini Oa was afforded when she was chosen for the Women’s Big Bash League Rookie Placement with the Perth Scorchers.

The ICC Rookie Placement Programme in collaboration with Cricket Australia, is aimed at developing of the women’s game through the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). This is the 3rd edition of this program and the second time Oa has been selected to participate.

She is one of 8 players selected.

Lewas player secures ICC Rookie Placement

Ravini Oa is among eight cricketers from five Member countries that will head to Australia to join each of the WBBL franchise clubs.

The two-week placement will provide the players the opportunity to experience elite cricket environments, accelerate their development through training sessions and to take back what they have learnt to their respective national teams. In addition, the rookies will also have the opportunity to take part in media and promotional activities.

Oa, who will represent Perth Scorchers, is looking forward to this experience.
