Christmas gifts come early for families

But for these ordinary Papua New Guineans, it’s a dream come true and a big help to their families.

Four people from the Highlands and New Guinea Islands (NGI) regions were recently announced as winners of the SP Lager Coaster bus promotion. Two winners were drawn for each region.

The winners had their own story, from how they entered the draw and how the coaster bus would benefit them.

These four lucky winners were among over 800,000 entries across the nation.

Female officer promoted

The promotion was done by Police Commissioner, David Manning.

Mt Hagen Station Commander? Inspector Maureen Undaba was elevated to the rank of Senior Inspector. 

The other six officers from around the country arrived in Port Moresby yesterday to receive their promotion; these are NCD Metropolitan Commander Chief Inspector Silva Sika to Superintendent, Western Highlands Provincial Police Commander

Superintendent John Sagom to Chief Superintendent, and thirdly Simbu Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector Epenes Nili to Superintendent. 

New banana boat for lucky family

Patrick Tore Jnr was announced as the lucky winner of Stop N Shop promotion on September 20th.

The 6-week Stop N Shop ‘Win a Banana Boat Promotion’ concluded with the announcement of the lucky winner at Stop N Shop Central Waigani in Port Moresby.

The competition, which ran from July 17th to August 31st, required customers to spend K40 or more at any of the 8 Stop N Shop outlets to enter the draw.

Out of the 50,000 entries, a father-of-two, from Hula and Gulf parentage, was drawn the winner.

The promotion, which runs for 2 months, covers weekly and fortnightly prizes before the major draw of ‘Free Fuel for the Year’ for one lucky winner in each region.

The promotion is only open to cash and EFTPOS customers.

All that a customer has to do is drive into any of the participating outlets, spend K50 on fuel and ask for the receipt. Simply write his/her name at the back of the receipt and drop it into the box provided.

There are two lucky winners for each weekly draw and another two lucky winners for the fortnightly draws.

Baki promotes senior constables

The Commissioner of Police has recognised and praised the efforts of his officers who commit their time in the communities.

Gari Baki said such officers should be given credit where it's due.

The Commissioner was in the Huon Gulf Electorate in Morobe Province over the weekend.

Morobe Patrol Post rural police station Commander James Maiwan was promoted to Sergeant and OIC Trans National Crimes Manu Pulei was elevated to Senior Sergeant.

Both members served more than 20 years within the Constabulary and had been recommended for field promotion.
