PM Accepts Paita’s Decision

The Prime Minister said this while acknowledging that he was in receipt of an urgent letter from the Minister who asked to "step aside as Minister for National Planning in the spirit of good leadership" on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

"I have been officially made aware of this matter. Minister Paita has written to me to explain and ask to step aside to allow investigations to clear his name.

Agriculture Transformational, Says PM

He said this when opening the landmark icon of the people of West New Britain, last week, which was funded by money from the province’s lucrative oil palm industry.

The Department of Justice and Attorney-General and all its agencies will be taking up space in all 12 floors.

Prime Minister Marape said the West New Britain story should be an inspiration for every individual and provincial government in the country, and was in line with Pangu Pati’s vision of economic independence for PNG.

PM’s Visit To West Sepik A Success

Mr Philips, whose command includes East and West Sepik and Western provinces, said the Prime Minister was in Vanimo to open the West Sepik Provincial Administration building and launch several impact projects for the province.

Mr Philips said his recent visit to the province with the Prime Minister and his delegations was to ensure the security of the Prime Minister given concerns of spillover effects of the on-going conflict across the border in Indonesia’s West Papua province.

Major Projects For West Sepik

The projects include the US$200 million (K700 million) Vanimo Port, K200 million for the West Coast Highway linking Vanimo to Wewak, and K200 million for the Telefomin-Tabubil Road.
It was mentioned that work on Vanimo-Wewak and Tabubil-Telefomin highways had started with 40km more to reach Telefomin.

PNG-Australia Hold Annual Leaders Dialogue

The two Prime Ministers recognised the critical importance of the Australia-Papua New Guinea bilateral relationship, the continued close cooperation between our two countries, and our shared interests in a secure, stable, peaceful, prosperous and democratic region. 

They underlined their ongoing commitment to the Papua New Guinea-Australia Comprehensive Strategic and Economic Partnership (CSEP).
Papua New Guinea and Australia are working hand in hand to counter the health and economic damage from COVID-19. 

Leaders Recognize Importance Of Rainforest

The leaders during their annual dialogue virtually this week agreed that Australia would provide additional support to PNG’s forestry sector, including project support for nature-based climate solutions. 

The Prime Ministers also welcomed the MoU signing of the Cooperation on Building Capacity for Participation in Global Carbon Markets by Ministers at COP26 in Glasgow, establishing a partnership under the Indo-Pacific Carbon Offsets Scheme.

PM Calls For Transparency On PHAs

Prime Minister, James Marape made this call when launching the National Health Plan 2021-2030 in Port Moresby yesterday, Tuesday 7th December.
He said that new programmes are being worked out with the support of a development partner for 22 modern hospitals for the country.

“We must make strategic interventions synchronised with my view that all hospitals, health centres and community aid posts must be one hour within walking distance or by a mode of transport for our citizens, for reliable health care," PM Marape said.

National Health Plan Launched

Prime Minister, James Marape issued this directive to the Department of Health, especially the Health Secretary and the heads of the Provincial Health Authorities (PHA), as he summarized the National Health Plan 2021–2030, before launching it in Port Moresby today.

Mega SME Fair

The fair allows over 200 SME vendors, mostly mothers in NCD, to set up market and sell various products.

Unity Supermarket Limited in collaboration with NCDC have organized the Mega SME fair that will run from December 3rd to the 16th.

The Unity Mall operating under the name Unity Supermarket Limited is set up by the PNG Christian Professionals Network.

Prime Minister Marape encouraged Papua New Guineans to embrace SME and not depend on free handouts.

Motukea Gas Donates 200 Oxygen Bottles

The company, based at Motukea Island outside of Port Moresby has been in operation since 2010 and runs a plant managed and operated by an all national staff.

Managing Director of Motukea Gas, Richard Foo said as a company that loves the country of Papua New Guinea and it's people, it was only right that they give back.

"Our plant is capable of producing 400 cylinders of 47ltr medical oxygen in 24hours. All manufactured locally here at Motukea.
