UK Porn ID checks set to start in April 2018

The April 2018 goal to protect under-18s was revealed as digital minister Matt Hancock signed the commencement order for the Digital Economy Act, which introduces the requirement.

But details as to how the scheme will work have yet to be finalised.

Experts who advised ministers said the targeted date seemed "unrealistic".

The act also sets out other new laws including punishing the use of bots to snatch up scores of concert tickets, and mandating the provision of subtitles on catch-up TV.

The star says she wanted to look at people's online relationships but insists the show isn't a hatchet job.

Is it OK to watch porn in public?

It's usually something done behind closed doors - but how would you feel about someone watching porn in public? The BBC's Siobhann Tighe describes a troubling experience on a London bus.

It had been a long day at work. I got on the bus at 7.30 in the evening and it was cold and drizzly. All the passengers were wrapped up in thick coats, hoods and hats.

Inside, the bus was softly lit and I was expecting to zone out on my way back home: just let the day go and switch off.

Russian porn ban critics urged to 'meet someone in real life'

But the spirited way in which the Russian media regulator, Roskomnadzor has responded to criticism of its decision to ban PornHub and YouPorn, has demonstrated that it is no ordinary government agency.

The ban announced on Tuesday follows two separate judicial rulings - a court in Voronezh banned PornHub and a court in Vladivostok banned YouPorn - which, perhaps not surprisingly, concluded that the websites "spread pornography".
