This follows an estimated K1 million in damages at one of the province’s largest supermarkets.

The Bintangor Supermarket, which is owned by Simon Sia, who is also the election petitioner against the young leader, was ransacked last Thursday by looters and opportunists.

According to police, the young leader was involved.

It was reported that around 4pm, the Governor entered the supermarket on Thursday, heavily escorted by outside police officers.

He allegedly gave directives for shoppers to get a rice bag each, which added up to K5,000.

Police say the Manus man was killed after he was speared in his left chest.

The killing took place last Friday at Bundrahei village, Pobuma LLG, in the south coast of Manus.

The deceased, Allan Damien, was from Likum village, also in the same LLG.

Manus provincial police commander, Chief Inspector David Yapu, says his officers were deployed to monitor the area due to the tense situation.

“The incident occurred over theft of betelnut in the betelnut block,” he says.

A suspect has been apprehended and is in custody pending further investigation.

Manus police arrested and charged Bart Kakap Soongkop (30), Andrew Ohong (52), Andrew Pohak (62) and Peter Paul (19), all from Ndrehet village, and charged them for the murder of 33-year-old Thomas Soongkombek.

It is alleged they attacked the deceased and hit him on his head with a piece of timber, which caused fracture to his brain and caused his death.

Three other men were also arrested and charged with the unlawful wounding of the deceased’s brother, Alphonse Soongkombek.

Gari Baki said the police department is now looking into the welfare of constables and other rank and file officers in the force.

Furthermore, they are encouraging all personnel to become members of the union.

The commissioner stated this during the signing of the agreement that will see an increment for police personnel.

Speaking at the signing on Wednesday, Baki said it is a requirement that will be established for police personnel as currently, staff who are not members of the Union are also benefiting from incentives given to members.

The incident reported on the 14th of this month, took place between 5:30pm and 6pm at the Gordons bus stop.

The complainant by the name of Pora Paraka of 8 Mile, reported that his Public Motor Vehicle, was driven away by a man believed to be from Tari/Wabag.

The bus driver was accused of having bumped into a sedan causing a dent which resulted in the occupants of the sedan attacking him.

One of the male suspects then removed the bus keys from the PMV driver and drove the bus away.

James Danny (48), from Solang village, Lou Island, was found guilty for being in possession of dangerous drugs and cultivating dangerous drugs.

Police conducted the raid on November 16 and uprooted marijuana plants in a garden. They also confiscated some drugs in his house.

He now remains in custody at Lorengau, awaiting his sentence.

Manus Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector David Yapu, said Danny was a threat to the community due to his involvement in drug activities in the community.

Police report that on October 19 at around 3pm at Tari Block, Hohola 5, the suspect used a big rock and allegedly hit the victim on his head several times.

The victim fell unconscious as a result of the attack and has been in hospital since.

Police say the victim has a fractured skull and was admitted to the Port Moresby General Hospital.

The suspect is still at large and will most likely face charges of grievous bodily harm.

Police are now working on leads to establish his whereabouts.

The incident allegedly occurred from 2016 to November 4^th, 2017, at Joyce Bay, Sabama.

The victim, a 13-year-old female, reported that she was 11 years old when the suspect used to entice her with money in return for sexual favours.

The victim reported the matter after her relatives questioned her upon noticing changes in her physical appearance.

The parents and relatives of the victim apprehended the suspect and handed him over to Police.

The man is now locked up in the cells awaiting further police action.

The girl, thought to be six years old, had accompanied her father to Tukusanda village when rumours of sanguma started going around. And because her mother was the late Leniata Kepari, who was burnt alive in 2013 in Mt Hagen due to sorcery accusations, all eyes fell on the little girl.

“When the villagers learnt that she was Leniata’s daughter, they presumed that she may have possessed the sanguma spirit,” Enga’s acting provincial police commander, Epenes Nili, tells Loop PNG.

Police report that on the 22nd of October, at around 1pm, the victim, a 19-year-old female, and another female were walking back from school when the two suspects approached and threatened them with bush knives.

The suspects, from Waipakam village, aged 20 and 19, forced both girls into a nearby bush. However, one of the girls managed to escape.

The 19-year-old girl, unfortunately, was taken into the bushes and raped.

After raping the girl, the suspects escaped. She sought help and was taken to the Kompiam Hospital for medical treatment.
