PNG vs Samoa

PNG thrash Tonga by 114 runs

PNG batted first and set a target of 190 after batting out the full 20 overs.

Jason Kila top scored for PNG with an impressive knock of 74 runs. Kila smashed 9 fours and 3 sixes.

Sione Manumu'a was the best of the Tongan bowlers taking 3/26.

Tonga ' s top order batsmen in Alois Pau'u (22) and Maamaloa Kuluka  (21) steered Tonga 's innings in the opening overs but their dismissals sparked a major batting collapse.

Tonga lost their last 7 wickets for only 18 runs.

Jason Kila with the ball proved deadly snaring 3/7. Tonga were all bowled out for 76.

PNG women through to gold play off

PNG won the game in the first half, scoring all three of their goals through Georgina Kaikas, Ramona Padio and Meagen Gunemba.

Gunemba, after three games, has scored five goals.

PNG will meet New Caledonia for gold this Thursday. New Caledonia was too strong, beating Cook Islands 5-1 in the first semi-final earlier today.

This means Cook Islands play Samoa in the bronze play off.

PNG settle for 7-7 draw with Samoa in touch rugby

Samoa hit an early lead after Peter Hazelman and Beckett Leota scored touch downs to sound a warning to PNG.

A touch down from Bobby Vavona put PNG back in the contest however. Samoa’s Lima Lote extended the lead to 3-1 before half time.

The second half of play saw a flurry of points from both sides. Uari Sarufa from PNG scored twice to level the scores at 3-3.

From this point, touch downs were scored from one of the field to another and about a minute out before play ended, the scores were locked at 6-6.
