Kokopo to host Lukim PNG Nau Expo

The PNG Tourism Industry Association Inc, in partnership with the PNG Tourism Authority, will for the first time host the event out of Port Moresby.

The 6th tourism expo will kick off with the tourism week training and awareness workshop from 20-21 September, before the three-day expo from Sept 23-25 at the exotic Rapopo Plantation Resort.

PNG Tourism Industry Association Executive Manager, Christine Peipul, says the events will be an opportunity for operators in the tourism industry from the New Guinea Islands region to dominate the event.

PNG records drop in visitor arrivals in 2015

This was slightly below the Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority’s focus to record 200,000 arrivals in 2015.

Statistics from PNGTPA has revealed that in 2015, PNG received about 198,685 international visitors.

PNGTPA acting chief executive officer Eric Mossman Uvovo said the huge drop in arrival is due to employment and the wind down of the LNG construction.

The arrivals in 2015 indicate that nearly 35 percent (69,540) of our visitors come for business purposes.
