PM O’Neill visits Fiji

PM O’Neill held various bilateral talks with his counterpart and Fiji’s Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama and other important meetings.

Mr O'Neill is the first PNG Prime Minister to be invited to speak at the Fiji Parliament - the only other foreign leader ever invited was Prime Minister of India.

Arriving on Sunday in Suva, Fiji, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill met with Fiji Prime Minister Voreqe Frank Bainimarama and other dignitaries.

PM welcomes businesses returning from holidays

He said as Government operations resume, and businesses end their Christmas shutdown, global indicators are also positive for the economy.

“The New Year brings increased opportunity to expand positive growth, stimulate business and create jobs,” the Prime Minister said as he returned to duties after spending Christmas and New Year with his family.

“Last year we weathered one of the most challenging global economic environments in recent years, and our economy is still producing positive growth.

PM O’Neill congratulates Trump on election victory

"I send Papua New Guinea’s best wishes following the election of Donald Trump, and congratulate him on his election to become the 45th President of the United States,” the Prime Minister said.

“Papua New Guinea looks forward to working with the incoming Administration when it is sworn into office in January 2017.

“It is clear the American people have expressed their confidence in Donald Trump both in the popular vote and through the electoral college vote.
