2K Medical Centre backs PMBL

Through the sponsorship, 2K Medical will pay for the venue hire of the Taurama Aquatic & Indoor Centre for the remainder of the PMBL season.

PMBL’s Lawrence Lahari, when signing the agreement today, thanked 2K Medical for the partnership.

“2K Medical had joined earlier on during the season as a franchise team but then pulled out, citing referee inconsistency.

“After much debate on the issue and the PMBL recognising the fact that referees needed to be trained, it was resolved that 2K Medical withdraw from being in the competition.

PMBL heading towards end of round

In yesterday’s results, MoniPlus Tamaraws def. West Jokers 91-63 and KSS Southern Flames def. Superior Coffee Saints 83-67.

The last scheduled match did not eventuate with G3 Chariots forfeiting 2K Tigers.

Emperador had the bye.

PMBL Match Commissioner, Erick Elai, said there is still one more week of games left to close off round one of the competition.

He added because of polling for the National Elections, a decision will be made whether games will be played this week or not.

Week two of PMBL completed

In the first game at 3pm, Superior Coffee Saints def. Chariots 75-59. In the game that followed after, KSS Southern Flames def. MoniPlus Tamaraws 105-82.

The main game at 7pm was between Emperador and 2K Tigers with Emperador coming out victors 85-79.

West Jokers had the bye.

Tamaraws narrowly escape Saints’ clutch

Tamaraws took a flying lead in the first half of the match at the Taurama Aquatic Centre in Port Moresby. Saints were trailing by 16 points, trying to catch up.

In the third quarter of the game, Saints regrouped and returned with quick breaks and layups to minimise the lead to 57-68 in the third quarter.

In the 4th quarter, Saints outplayed Tamaraws, running them into panic mode with the points, slowly closing the gap to 68-73.

With only 2 minutes on the board, Tamaraws caused more fouls, allowing Saints to narrow the margin to a 2-point basket.
