Brisbane-based locals prep for independence

Papua New Guineans living abroad are also getting into the swing of things.

The PNG Gulf Association of Queensland is no exception, with members and their families coming out and rehearsing in their traditional attire in the Roma Street Parklands in Australia.

President Zillah Carius says they are practicing their dance for their upcoming Brisbane Independence Day celebration, set for the 15th of September at Bill Norris Oval, Beenleigh.

The Association comprising of our very own Gulf Province people  who reside in Brisbane, Australia voluntarily contributed money to help their very own people with an initiatives to better their lives.

"We love our people back at home here in Kerema that's why we do it out of our hearts." 

This were the remarks from Zillah Carius the chairperson of the group who broke down emotionally while addressing the student and staff of the school.
