PNG Air suspends Wapenamanda flights

PNG Air flight area being suspended indefinitely, until such time the airline can determine the safe operations of services back into the province.

Customers with existing tickets can rebook or reroute at no further cost.

Last week, Air Niugini suspended flights into Wapenamanda. 

Photos supplied to this newsroom by security forces stationed there showed that unidentified persons had spilt oil and thrown broken bottles over parts of the airport runway, making it dangerous for an aircraft to land.

Brothers Win PNG Air Song Comp

With the submission of large numbers of entries across the country, a winner has been selected and they are brothers, Humene and Heni Walo.
The brothers from Central Province took a chance when they saw their opportunity with news of the promotion wasting no time in starting on their winning track. 

Humene said they visited the PNG Air website and got all the information regarding the criteria of the competition then started on the song.
“Basically, it is the story of PNG Air from Milne Bay all the way through,” said Humene.

Song Comp To Celebrate 35th Anniversary

In celebrating its 35th Anniversary this year, the airline has launched a song comp to commemorate its history in PNG. The competition is open to all aspiring and established musicians who will be required to record and submit a lyrical or instrumental song that captures the story and history of the airline.

The song is required to be a minute long and should highlight and celebrate the airline’s heritage from Milne Bay Airlines, to Airlines PNG to PNG Air today, and also put the customer at the heart of the airlines.

Digicel partners with PNG Air

Through this partnership that was launched today at the PNGAIR head office in Port Moresby, PNGAIR customers can now book and pay for their tickets using CellMoni without having to travel to the PNGAIR offices or travel agencies.  An online booking can be made through the PNG Air website (www.pngair.com.pg). An online booking can be made through the PNG Air Customer Care on 16 111 and select the CellMoni payment option.

Tari Flights Resume

This follows a suspension that was placed on April 1st due to safety concerns over recent civil unrests in the provincial capital.

Passengers can now book tickets to travel online at www.pngair.com.pg, or at your nearest PNG Air, Post PNG Sales Office and travel agent.

PNGAIR - 35 years of aviation service

Today it announced 2022 as a special year as it celebrates 35 years of aviation service to Papua New Guinea.

The airline's history goes back to Milne Bay Province as Milne Bay Airlines, when the company was established and started operations on June 30 1987 by founder, the late Sir. John Wild, Snr. MBA would later become Airlines PNG in 2001 and then PNG Air in 2015.

Over the years, the airline has with value airfares, modern aircraft in the brand new ATR 72-600, its current flagship aircraft and improved service.

Cabin Crew And Staff Ill

Both airlines issued media statements, apologizing to the traveling public of the flight disruptions.

Each has stated that the wet weather conditions have contributed to staff falling ill.

Both also state that they are doing everything they can to manage the situation without compromising safe operations.

As most accidents are sudden and happen unexpectedly, it is vital to have staff equipped with necessary first aid skills they can utilize in emergencies.
