PM Lauds Acting Judges

PM Marape congratulated the newly appointed Acting Judges of which six are women.

These judges are Laura Wawun Kuvi, Irene Ann Mugugia, Gertrude Tamate, Tracy Ganaii, Nerrie Eliakim, Camillus Jacob Sambua, Emma Wurr, Gerhard Linge and Michael Thoke.

PM Marape said the Government through the JLSC will ensure more appointments of judges and magistrates are made in the future to reduce the backlogs of cases in both the higher and lower Courts.

PM Slams Misinformation On Vaccination

He was speaking at the APEC Informal Leaders Retreat recently. Although while mentioning this and the people’s right in making the choice to vaccination.

It was clear that the PM Marape was aware of the world’s current move into accepting COVID-19 vaccination as the new way of living and travel.

PM highlighted that Papua New Guinea is among the countries that are still lagging behind in vaccinating its population.

Bird Lauds PM's Appeal

Governor Bird, a guest of the Prime Minister together with Oro Governor, Gary Juffa attended the virtual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders Informal Retreat during which PM Marape spoke on behalf of all small South Pacific countries.

Governor Bird said the Prime Minister came out forceful and it was good to see him speaking as he did.

PM Appeal For Peace During Polling

Polling starts at 8am and will conclude at 6pm at 136 polling sites within the five council wards in the electorate.

“Port Moresby Northwest is the most educated electorate in our country. Our people are encouraged to get out there and cast your vote and make a difference.

“If you have a say in how your country should be, it is only through your Member of Parliament and Port Moresby Northwest you have the opportunity tomorrow.

“Do not be influenced by money that is floating around”, he added.   

PM launches Ihu ISEZ

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Kikori MP and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Soroi Eoe; Minister for Works Michael Nali and Department Secretary David Wereh; Transport Minister William Samb; Central Governor Robert Agarobe; Gulf Governor Chris Haiveta and officials of the ISEZ.

Thousands came to welcome the delegation at Ihu Airstrip, which has been cleared and opened for use, with plans for rehabilitation.

PM Marape visited Ihu and gave the National Governments support to the Ihu SEZ.

PM announces upgrade to Hiritano Highway

He announced this in Kerema on Monday April 12th 2021, after launching the Ihu Special Economic Zone (ISEZ) and other projects in Kikori District.

Prime Minister Marape also announced funding of K5-million for Kerema Town roads; K100, 000 from the National Gaming Control Board to upgrade the Kerema Rugby League Oval; and another K20, 000 to support the local basketball competition.
