Counting: Kairuku Hiri progressive result- after elimination 19

After the 19th exclusion of Bernard Koae, Isoaimo is ahead on 14 357 votes.

1647 votes from Koae were distributed among the 8 remaining candidates.

Results for the top five after elimination 19:

1. Peter Isoaimo (NA): 14, 357

2. Paru Aihi (PNC): 11, 108

3. Steven John Manai (Pangu): 7,362

4. Scott Boio Morata (Indept): 5,510

5. Gabriel Nicholas (PPP): 5,218

The absolute majority now stands at 27,992.

The total votes distributed so far is 6526 and the total exhausted votes is 1,364.

Counting: Kairuku Hiri progressive result – after elimination 18

Counting officials stopped counting over non-payment of their allowances, however, they decided to resume today after they were assured that payment will be made.

After elimination 18, National Alliance candidate and incumbent Member Peter Isoaimo maintains a steady lead.

After the 18th exclusion of Jimmy Anio Aniawa Anio, Isoaimo is leading with 14,054 votes.

1332 votes from Anio were distributed among the 9 remaining candidates.

Land advocate questions Defence Minister’s statement

This was the statement from Motu-Koita land advocate and former secretary for the Department of Information and Communication, Henao Iduhu.

“All customary landowners in Manumanu-Pinu, Central Province, were never alerted nor consulted and thereby the land was acquired in breach of the Land Act 1996,” argues Iduhu.

Iduhu asked why the Member for Kairuku-Hiri, Peter Isoaimo, did not act in the interest of his constituents earlier to put a stop to this illegal land grab.

No police boats to fight piracy in PNG waters: Atiyafa

This dangerous scenario was echoed in Parliament this morning by Police Minister Robert Atiyafa who said the Police water unit is non-functioning.

Kairuku – Hiri MP, Peter Isoaimo during Question Time asked if local police had boats to chase people committing the act of piracy, after a recent murder of a man from Roku Village within the waters near Port Moresby.  

Roku village is inside the electorate boundary of Isoaimo’s electorate.

Kairuku rice project will continue, assures Tomscoll

The project, at the moment, has gone back to a government rice committee to negotiate issues of allocations of the import quota.

The meeting was held last week and Tomscoll is yet to be briefed on the outcome.

Tomscoll said there are many issues that they’ll have to consider before the project can commence operations.

The project is subject to all social mapping, land marking and identifications of landowners.

“We cannot just let companies walk in without social mapping, identifying who the landowners are and sorting out the beneficiaries of the project.
