OSF provides programs for women in four provinces

Working closely through government systems and with partners, services provided in the areas of health, gender and early childhood literacy and education are detailed in the Foundation's 2016 Annual Report titled “Partnerships in Action” that was released this week.

Helping improve PNG’s literacy rate

The company, through its Oil Search Foundation (OSF), will work with the BbP to deliver a second library in Hela Province, having assisted in the development of a first one, and a new library in Kikori, Gulf Province.

The initiative will see library books brought right down to the grassroots level to improve literacy rates.

Dr Gawin is new Hela Provincial Health Authority CEO

Dr Gawin arrived in Tari on Thursday with his family to a rousing welcome from the Hela Provincial Health Authority Board, led by Chairman Peter Botten, Hela Provincial Administrator William Bando, Health Secretary and HPHA director Pascoe Kase and health staff.

When speaking at the welcome ceremony, Dr Gawin told the staff and management that the only way for the HPHA to work and to move forward is for the staff and management to accept change and be willing to change.

Cooperation will save energy partners billions

Speaking at the Inaugural PNG Petroleum and Energy Summit, Oil Search Managing Director, Peter Botten, says the joint venture partners should be looking at cost synergies and optimising spending through reduced wasteful duplication of infrastructure.

He said this will offer the best capital and operational expenditure savings.

Botten looking forward to discussions

In a recent media release, Oil Search announced possible cooperation and integration of the next phase of LNG development, with Total (SA) and ExxonMobil.

Speaking to Loop PNG, Botten says the gains from the cooperation will benefit all parties, including the landowners and PNG.

Oil Search records positive production

In a media release, Oil Search states that this recording is 6% higher than in the second quarter and only 1% lower than its all time record level of 7.72 mmboe in the first quarter of 2016.

Managing Director, Peter Botten, says the third quarter of 2016 was another very strong period for Oil Search operationally.

Botten in 100 top CEOs

This is the second year in a row that Botten has been named on the prestigious list.

Despite dropping 27 places from 72 to 99 on the list, Botten is among some of the best CEOs to deliver this year despite slow economic growth due to lower commodity prices.

The Harvard Business Review website states that against this bleak backdrop, it’s heartening to see a group of business leaders compiling track records that allow them to stick around and implement long-term strategies.

Oil Search to reinvest in health and Education: Botten

These were the words from OSL Managing Director Peter Botten when commenting on the funding to the company’s humanitarian arm, Oil Search Foundation.

OSL earlier this week announced the board decision to give K185 million (US$56 million) for over five years, from 2016 to 2020.

“The Foundation is now ready to carry out its work addressing health, leadership and education and women’s protection and empowerment programs in PNG over the next five years,” Botten said.
