What's the best work schedule for your age?

But will your new daily schedule be the healthiest for your brain and body?

Scientists have long known that you have an internal biological clock that regulates various physical, mental and behavioral changes your body experiences over a 24-hour cycle, called circadian rhythms. Those circadian rhythms can slowly change as you age.

Why bad tempered earn more and live longer

He hates being a celebrity. He resents being an actor. To his ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley's friends he was apparently known as ‘Grumpelstiltskin’.

Hugh Grant may be famed for being moody and a little challenging to work with. But could a grumpy attitude be the secret to his success?

Five unmistakable signs you should be working for yourself

Repetitive Motion Drives You Crazy

Some people are great at launching things but they go crazy when they have to maintain something they’ve built. They’re bored out of their mind by routine work. If you are that type of person, take a look at self-employment. Clients don’t hire consultants to maintain things for them very often. They hire consultants to create, design and implement things!

You Know a Better Way to Do It

4 bad work situations that get better when you speak up

But that doesn't mean you need to grin and bear it. Sure, an easygoing attitude and ready smile go a long way in the workplace, but being likable isn't — andshouldn't be — your only key to success. You want to be respected, and one way to get that collective thumbs-up from your colleagues and managers is by decisively and diplomatically standing up for yourself.

Channeling your emotional intelligence to become a leader

Overwhelmed with shame, I felt my throat constrict and my eyes well. In the last two weeks, I’d moved across the continent, I’d broken up with my boyfriend and I’d been shifted into a unfamiliar role at work (for which I hadn’t initially been hired). I knew no one in the city, had my first taste of an ‘authentic’ East Coast winter and was living with a 25-year-old from Craigslist who hosted parties at our flat every other night. On top of everything, the company that employed me was in the midst of a crisis and morale was rockbottom.

Depression: New blood test could result in personalised treatment

The researchers said doctors should in future be able to direct depressed patients with a certain level of inflammation in their blood towards earlier treatment with a more potent course of anti-depressants — possibly including combining two medications — before they get worse.

"This study moves us a step closer to providing personalised anti-depressant treatment at the earliest signs of depression," said Annamaria Cattaneo, who led the work at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN).

Anxiety disorders 'need more research', says global study

Scientists from the University of Cambridge said women, young people under 35 and those with health problems were particularly affected.

They estimate that four out of every 100 people are affected by anxiety.

But the review said more research was needed to find out which other communities were at greatest risk.

Published in the journal Brain and Behavior, the global review of 48 studies found that more than 60 million people were affected by anxiety disorders every year in the EU.

Hard work won't make you successful

The magic ingredient to success is not the good fortune to come from a wealthy family, and it isn’t a great education, either, as plenty of underemployed but highly-educated people can attest. The magic ingredient for career success and satisfaction is self-determination. When you are the captain of the ship, you get to decide which way to sail. That’s the only way to be successful in your career.

The hidden psychology of failure

But is there any scientific proof that successive failure is positive and propels innovation forwards?

How to make yourself work when you don't want to

It sneaks up on most people when they’re tired or bored, but for some, procrastination can be a full-fledged addiction. They avoid all day the work that is right in front of them, only to go home and toil late into the night, frantically trying to finish what they could have easily completed before dinner.

Procrastination is fueled by excuses. We cannot expect to overcome procrastination and improve our health and productivity until we’re able to overcome the negative mental habits that lead us to procrastinate in the first place.
