Drunkards behind PNC rally disruption: PPC

Eastern Highlands Provincial Police Commander, Alex N’Drasal, confirmed that the incident was caused by a minority of people, who were chased by those attending the rally.

A stone throwing fight soon broke out but police intervened.

Prime Minister and PNC Party leader, Peter O’Neill, was on ground to show support for his PNC party candidates in EHP on Tuesday.  

O’Neill told Loop PNG that disturbance was caused by a few people under the influence of alcohol.

“People sat down and listened for over 45 minutes of my speech,” said the PM.

​Disruption of PNC rally speaks volumes: Polye

Polye said the disruption at the PNC rally for EHP Governor Julie Soso speaks volumes.  

He challenged Prime Minister Peter O’Neill not to water down people’s anger.

“It is only a representation of common public resentment our people have had against him and his government,” said Polye.

“Their resentment will be translated into votes."

​Police break up rowdy crowd at PNC rally

Reports from Goroka stated that local police had to intervene and use force in a campaign rally yesterday (Tuesday) after the crowd became disruptive while the prime minster was speaking.   

The rally was for PNC candidate and Governor Julie Soso.       

PM Peter O’Neill told Loop PNG that disturbance was caused by a few people under the influence of alcohol.

“People sat down and listened for over 45 minutes of my speech,” said the PM.

“Police present were the only ones allocated to PM’s office.

No child should be denied education: PM

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill made the point when visiting Ialibu in Southern Highlands on Sunday, which was where he attended high school.

“I have personal experience of how hard life is for families when education is not free,” the Prime Minister said to a large gathering in Ialibu.

“I went to school here in Ialibu, and I know how difficult it was for my mother to find money for school.

​National Alliance Party to decide fate today

Parliamentary leader Patrick Pruaitch confirmed this with Loop PNG yesterday.

He said a media conference will be held after the meeting to discuss the actions taken by the NA party caucus.          

This follows Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s decision to remove the Treasury portfolio from Pruaitch last week.

O’Neill is the parliamentary leader of the major coalition partner, People’s National Congress (PNC) Party.  

The announcement by the Prime Minister last week followed comments by Pruaitch on the country’s economy and lack of election funding.

Maru confident PNC to form new government

Trade, Commerce and Industry Minister Richard Maru is optimistic many of the sitting Members of Parliament will be returned to form the government in July.    

“I have absolutely no doubt, PNC has 60 members (MPs), even if we lose half and 30 of the current members win, PNC will form the government again,” Maru told Loop PNG.

The local MP for Yangoru – Saussia is over confident that he had done enough to be given the mandate to return for his second term.       

Ipatas move to PNC legal, says Gelu

Polye said it was unacceptable for a leader of Ipatas calibre to abandon PP and join PNC.

He also said Ipata’s nomination under the PNC banner was a ‘blunder’ and ‘illegal’ and called for the Registrar of Political Parties and Candidates, Dr. Alphonse Gelu to de-register both party’s.

He further added “therefore I’m urging very strongly that Dr Gelu sets the precedence without fear or favour to start the de-registration of these two political parties.

Thousands witness PNC members’ nominations

Komal and Powi are contesting under the People's National Congress (PNC) party.

Party leader and Prime Minister Peter O'Neill will be endorsing them.

PNC currently has 55 MPs in the coalition and will be doing its best to return its candidates.

PNC to hold fundraising gala tonight

It will be a night of celebration in counting its milestones and success, while on the entertainment front international Rockstar Ronan Keating will perform live.

While the major is to raise funds for PNC'S preparation going into the 2017 National General Election, will also be a time to consolidate its position in PNG'S landscape.

The night will also see a - Meet the Press - session where several senior journalists from major media houses are invited to participate in a question and answer session.
