PM Marape holds bilateral with Aust

Prime Minister Marape and Deputy Prime Minister Marles discussed issues of concern for both countries including giving each other updates on the recently signed Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) with the United States and the proposed Bilateral Security Treaty (BST) with Australia, Visa issues and the PNG NRL Bid.

He informed Mr Marles that the Bilateral Security Treat that Australia would like to have with Papua New Guinea is a work in progress at the moment.

Tkatchenko: PNG respects Indonesia’s Sovereignty

This was mentioned during discussion on issues regarding West Papua. Both Ministers met in Bali, Indonesia when Minister Marsudi highlighted the need for respect and sovereignty as separate nations.

“Minister Marsudi spoke in detail thanking the PNG Government and Foreign Affairs Department for recognising the issue of West Papua as an internal Indonesian matter. They are a sovereign country and like PNG we respect and support Indonesia and its sovereignty. We will work with them to resolve any issue that may come up with West Papua in PNG,” Tkatchenko said.

Jacks of PNG Partners with Team PNG

Jacks of PNG has sealed a two-year merchandise partnership which saw the PNGOC award the supplier the licensing rights to its Team PNG brand to manufacture, advertise and distribute Team PNG merchandise apparel for the two-year period.

The merchandising agreement allows the PNGOC to provide its Team PNG trademark to Jacks of PNG to create an agreed range of Team PNG supporter apparel for the public to purchase from all Jacks of PNG retail outlets.

Hunters, Dolphins Partner Towards NRL Pathway

This agreement will provide a genuine pathway for Papua New Guinean rugby league players beginning in the Digicel Cup competition, through to the Hunters and right into an NRL system.

The partnership is in alignment with the Hunters’ strategic plan to develop more Papua New Guinean players into the NRL competition by 2025.

Under the agreement, four Hunters’ players will attend a full pre-season with the Dolphins NRL squad, starting in 2023.

The SP PNG Hunters are unique to the QRL and have relocated to Queensland to compete in the Hostplus Cup competition.

In their response, the Hunters and Kokomos have formalized a development partnership that will see Kokomo players train with the Hunters playing squad in 2022.
