Crowd Backs PM’s Nomination

Marape for the first time nominated as Prime Minister after becoming the CEO of the country in 2019. This is his fourth term to nominate after entering politics in 2007.
Speaking during his nomination, the Prime Minister urged the people to respect the electoral process and allow for a fair and transparent election.

Meantime, straight after nominating, Marape vowed in front of his people in Tari that he will resign if PANGU Pati will not form the next Government.

Vote Wisely: PM

The call was made on the third anniversary of Marape’s resignation from the O’Neill-led government.

The PM, on April 11, 2019, resigned in protest at the way the country was being run.

Reflecting on that momentous occasion, the Prime Minister urged the people “to exercise your right to vote wisely in the 2022 elections”.

“Don’t vote for money, don’t vote for relatives, and don’t vote for people or parties who have sold your birthright,” he said.

Liberal Party set for elections

Liberal Party leader, Sir John Pundari made this announcement when launching the party on Monday at Londol village in Ambum in Enga Province.

The member for Kompiam Ambum, said the Liberal Party was formed to liberate the people of Kompiam Ambum first, and the country as a whole, from the bondage of poor health and living conditions.

Marape Slams Rumours On ‘Leaving PANGU’

He said he was quite surprised to see the “fake news” that he announced at a meeting with Hela landowners last Friday night, his Sabbath and at a time when he was mourning the passing of Party stalwart William Samb – that he was officially and formally distancing himself from PANGU.

“I am not leaving Pangu; Pangu is part of me, I am privileged to be leading the Party at the moment,” Marape said. This Party gave the country its sovereignty, this Party set up the three arms of government, this Party has shown the road in the formative years of our country’s history.

Pangu convention underway

This is the first convention proper after taking office in 2019.

Party officials from all the provinces flew into Port Moresby to attend the National Convention.

The Convention aims to affirm the party structure, constitution and policies retrospective to what PANGU has done for the country.

Party leader and Prime Minister James Marape in an earlier statement said, “We will also look at what we, this generation of Pangu members, have done over the last two years under my watch.

PNGEC prioritizes partnerships

Southern Highlands Provincial Administrator, Jerry David and Acting Electoral Commissioner, Simon Sinai signed the MoU that now allows for the PNGEC and the provincial administration to coordinate efforts to update the electoral roll in the provinces in preparation for the 2022 general elections.

“Sharing information and coordinating with stakeholders is a priority.”

“Electoral Commission will work with other important national bodies.”

“Our international partners are also important stakeholders, who we will continue to work with.”

Samuel Commends Voters

Lohia Boe Samuel was declared on June 24th when his total votes of 25,185 bypassed the absolute majority of 23,249 votes and sworn-in to office on Friday 2nd July.

Samuel said the people of Moresby Northwest have been neglected for a very long time.

In response to alleged rigging of elections, Samuel said, “The election was not rigged. It was a result of many, many years of hard work.”

The new member said the problem started when results of the first count were being tallied at the ward 7 counting location in Murray Barracks.

Minister warns against Pangu Pati scam

This follows a recent development involving person(s) identifying themselves as representatives of Pangu Pati and requesting membership sign-up and fees from individuals around Maprik district.

It has been alleged that some ‘person of interest’ belonging to a newly established church have been prompting individuals to sign up for membership with promises of thousands of kina credited into their accounts as rewards; those who sign up are asked to do so with a certain amount, including a cost of K50 or more.

Two more MPs join PANGU

They are Middle Fly MP Roy Biyama and Tambul-Nebilyer MP, Win Daki.

Pangu Pati Leader and Prime Minister James Marape officially welcomed the MPs today, saying Pangu is all about quality leadership and not numbers.

The Prime Minister clarified that other MPs have also shown interest in joining but have been directed to join other coalition parties.

The new additions now brings the number of Pangu Pati MPs to 28.

Meantime, Prime Minister Marape also announced that the party’s gala dinner will be hosted on December 21 in Port Moresby.
