PNG should tap into cold chain development, advises OBG

According to Oxford Business Group CEO, Andrew Jeffreys, PNG could be a leading exporter with modern cold chain infrastructure developed.

“With refrigeration, packaging, processing in place, PNG could become a major exporter of seafood, spices and fruits to the rest of the fast-growing Asian region,” said Jeffreys.

He stated that PNG cannot compete with Asian manufacturing power houses such as China, Vietnam and Thailand.

Projects to bring in billions

The figure was revealed during the launching of the ‘The Report: Papua New Guinea 2016’ by the Oxford Business Group (OBG).

OBG Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Jeffreys, says PNG has a relatively easy task of differentiating itself as a destination of choice for energy majors and commodity investors, given irs unique hydrcarbomn and mining potential.

He said delivery of large scale projects creates an enormous buzz in international media and tends to attract smaller investors.

Annual Oxford Report to be launched

The annual publication by the OBG is the fifth compilation of research and analysis of the economy, business, and politics in PNG.

Chief Executive Officer of the OBG, Andrew Jeffreys, will introduce and launch the report.

The Report 2016 launching will be followed by a roundtable discussion on ‘Investment Environment & Opportunities’ in 2017: Commodities, Services & Technology.’
