Old House of Assembly

Young historians to collect exhibition items

Historians Nancy Simeon and Zenaleze Abage will be accompanied by Principal Curator for Contemporary Arts Department, Hillary Miria, for a ten-day trip.

The three will visit the National Archives and Library in Canberra, working closely with staff in these institutions to collect information, photographs and videos of historic politicians and milestone events relating to the exhibition.

Museum caretaker manager, Alois Kuaso, said the exhibition will showcase the political and legal history of Papua New Guinea from 1948 to 1984.

Old House of Assembly to open

Deputy President of the National Museum and Art Gallery, Andrew Abel, announced that this was part of the 100 day plan for the Museum.

The historical building was given to the Museum and will be opened in November 2017, followed by an exhibition that will showcase the political and legal history of the country from 1948 to 1984.

The exhibition will feature photographs, audio and visual displays of historic political leaders and milestone events of our country’s political development.
