NSL bids open for 2016-2017

Competition manager Simon Koima said the forms are available and clubs who fulfilled the registration requirements would be granted license.

"The application for the expression of interest is open today and closes on Sunday 21/08/2016."

"PNG Football Association will issue licenses to clubs who fulfill all the club licensing requirements."

He stressed that only clubs who are licenced are permitted to participate in the 2016-2017 NSL season.

Koima said club licensing was an integral part of building a stronger football programme.

Team to thank God for victory

The planned dedication service will start soon after the Lae City Dwellers arrive in Lae around 4pm this afternoon.

The team has defended well their title and retained the cup as the premiers of the prestigious soccer game in the country.

Team manager Peter Seske, coach Peter Gunemba and the team's spiritual leader Reverend Gary Mangiri will lead the team to the church for the service.

Lae City Dwellers is a Papua Compound-based NSL team. Apart from the game of soccer, they also commit themselves to God as they know that He is the source of their lives and game.

Upaiga, Semmy shut out Rapatona

Upaiga and teammate Tommy Semmy partnered to take Hekari home against PKA Rapatona FC 2-0 at the Bisini Soccer Ground.

Upaiga wasted no time scoring just five minutes into the game when he found the net to lead 1-0.

This was Upaiga’s second goal in the champion’s league following his first goal on Saturday when Hekari defeated Rapatona 1-0 in game one.

The score remained 1-0 at halftime after Rapatona tried to attack but struggled in the first half as Hekari’s defense  held firm.

Prime suspects in nursing school rape arrested

Three suspects were arrested in a raid at Banana camp settlement in Lae on Sunday, in relation to the rape and robbery of two female students at the Angau School of Nursing.

Madang FC thanks all its supporters

Team Manager Terrence Issue says credit goes to all the supporters and fans at home and away games.

He says the exiting of MFC this season is far better than the other teams in the Southern and Northern Conference beating Lae City Dwellers in the last game of the season 2-1 and finishing on 18 points.

He says the supporters, team Management and Madang Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Jim Kas are pleased to finish on high note.

Issue thanked MPG for sponsoring the team, Madang supporters, support staff, NSL board and referees.

Four NSL teams confirmed for national titles

Theyre Rapatona FC and undefeated Hekari United from the Southern Conference and premiers Lae City Dwellers and newcomer Welgris Morobe United from Northern Conference.

TNSL completes round 9

In the Southern Conference, Rapatona FC drew 1-1 with Huawei PS United FC.

The game straight after saw another 1-1 scoreline in the Gigira Laitepo United FC and Erema Gulf FC encounter.

Sunday afternoon's game between Hekari United FC and Port Moresby FC went to Hekari 2-1.

Across to the Northern Conference, Admiralty FC thrashed Goroka Gosiha 4-1.

 Lae City Dwellers FC also did it easy beating Besta PNG United 3-0 while Welgris Morobe United defeated Madang FC 2-0.

Hekari make it 9 from 9

Hekari opened the scoring in the 21st minute through the boot of the ever relieable Koriak Upaiga.

Five minutes later, Upaiga got his second of the afternoon to put Hekari comfortably in front.

But FC Port Moresby retaliated not long after when a penalty kick from the side found Neil Hans who headed the ball into the nets.

Both sides continued on to the second half desperate for points.

Hekari began to tire towards the end of the game which allowed FC Port Moresby to press on for the equalizer.

Hekari United well ahead in NSL competition

  Hekari tops the southern conference after round six was completed on the weekend.

PKA Rapatona FC is trailing on 10 points after its win on the weekend followed by Erema Gulf FC and FC Port Moresby both on seven points.

Gigira Laitepo FC remains on five points after losing on the weekend while Huawei PS United FC is trailing on four points.

Hekari United registers six straight wins

Hekari remain undefeated after beating Gigira Laitepo United FC in round six of NSL at Bisini Soccer Grounds, Port Moresby today.

It was a replay of round one when the two teams first met with Hekari claiming victory 4-2.

Hekari wasted no time scoring eight minutes into the game through striker Papalau Awele.  Upaiga extended the lead 23 minutes later, scoring an easy goal from in front of the goal mouth, 2-0.
