Opportunity knocks a second time and Reece has the answer

Two years after a hamstring tweak in the captain's run robbed him of an Origin debut at the tender age of 18, Walsh is back at the summit and ready to grab his opportunity with both hands in next Wednesday's series opener in Adelaide.

Walsh was just seven games into his NRL career at the Warriors when he was drafted into the Maroons squad for Game 2 in 2021, with some questioning whether he was physically and mentally ready for the Origin furnace.

Turbo, Schuster steal the show as Sea Eagles trounce Raiders

On the eve of the New South Wales team being named, Trbojevic, who endured a patchy start to the year littered with injury niggles, stood tall with a hat-trick of tries and 239 running metres.

Two of those four-pointers were assisted by five-eighth Josh Schuster, who after three weeks out injured returned with a bang, finishing the game with three try assists and scoring one of his own.

The victory at GIO Stadium snapped a three-game losing streak for the Sea Eagles, who have now won six of their last eight against Canberra.

Gutsy Dogs overcome Titans, Origin concern for Tino

After heading to the break down 14-0 at Accor Stadium, the Bulldogs flew out of the sheds in the second half to score two tries in the space of five minutes and get back into the game.

A subsequent try to Jacob Kiraz set up a thrilling finish, before Okunbor burst through the heart of the Gold Coast defence to score three minutes from time, with Matt Burton's ensuing conversion from in front confirming the comeback win.

Kaufusi Origin fears as Storm hold off Dolphins

With ex-Storm forwards Jesse and Kenny Bromwich and Felise Kaufusi in the Dolphins pack, the game exploded early with Origin ramifications for Queensland.

The Maroons selection hopes of Kaufusi are in doubt after he was sin-binned for a high shot on Melbourne prop Christian Welsh in just the second minute of the match against his former club.

Kaufusi only recently returned after serving a four-match ban for a late tackle on Knights playmaker Jackson Hastings and any suspension will rule him out of Maroons selection.

Brooks steers Tigers to record win in 200th game

Watched on by family, friends and former team-mates, including Mitchell Moses and Josh Reynolds, Brooks was at his attacking best; running 213 metres with the ball and laying on two tries as Wests Tigers romped to their third win in four weeks.

The win was the first in the history of Wests Tigers or the 1908 foundation clubs who formed the joint venture in 2000, Balmain or Western Suburbs, in which they had scored 66 points.

The 48-point margin was also the heaviest defeat by a Cowboys team since North Queensland joined the premiership in 1995.

Kennedy, Hynes shine as Sharks prove too good for Knights

With Nicho Hynes and Will Kennedy in slashing form the Sharks racked up a seventh win of the season to join the Panthers, Rabbitohs and Broncos on 16 competition points.

The Sharks struck first in the seventh minute when Kennedy sliced through the Knights' left side defence to grab his 11th try of the season.

Five minutes later the Sharks looked to have a second when Hynes finished off brilliant lead-up work by Connor Tracey but the try was ruled out for obstruction by Dale Finucane in the lead-up.

Dolphins v Storm: Bromwich boost; NAS on track

The Storm were made to work for the two points in Round 11 but will certainly take plenty from a 24-16 win that has them just two points off the top of the table despite an up-and-down year so far.

Craig Bellamy will know his side are up against another tough challenge this week as they take on supercoach Wayne Bennett for his 901st career game.

Bennett's Dolphins were humming at Magic Round as they dispatched of Cronulla with a first-half attacking blitz, and will no doubt be eager to build on their Suncorp success this week with several injured troops back on deck.

Wests Tigers v Cowboys: Brooks hits 200; Leilua added to squad

Heading into last week's game off the back of consecutive wins, Wests Tigers produced another determined effort against the competition heavyweights to hold South Sydney to just one try through 70 minutes before letting it slip late on, with the 20-0 scoreline in the end perhaps not painting a full picture of the contest.

It did, however, highlight the continued struggles in attack for Wests Tigers, who have now scored just 136 points through 11 rounds and remain bottom of the Telstra Premiership ladder as a result of their shut-out last Saturday.

Sharks v Knights: Hamlin-Uele called up; Same 17 for O'Brien

Cronulla's star playmaker Nicho Hynes looks certain to be part of Brad Fittler's NSW squad for Game One while Knights pair Kalyn Ponga and Dane Gagai are a lock for Maroons selection, so banking another two competition points on Saturday is critical.

The Sharks exploded out of the blocks against Manly but allowed the home side back into the game in the second term before hanging on to win 20-14 to take their record to 6-4.

Halves fire as Eels burn Rabbitohs

Parramatta showed their intent with a Sean Russell try two minutes into the game and took a 12-10 lead into the break, before overcoming South Sydney with four second-half tries.

Moses set up four of his side's six tries, while halves partner Brown terrorised the Rabbitohs with his running game, chewing through 139 metres and scoring a try on his way to winning the inaugural Eric Simms Medal as player of the match.
